I don't really have any answers to your questions, I just wanted to welcome you to MUT -- Try posting your question in the Skin Care forum, you might get some more answers from girls that may not visit the User Introductions board!

Congrats on heading off to college, I'm sure you will love it, I really did! I don't really have any tips for self-esteem and I don't really know what your specific situation is (are these dark spots the source of your low self-esteem?) -- however, I don't know if this helps, but I didn't have much self-esteem in high school since I was stereotyped as the class nerd, the person who always set the curve on the tests, and it was a small school so I couldn't escape the stereotype, everyone knew me! But what I loved about going off to college was that it was a fresh start -- no one knew me, and I could just be myself and not worry about what they thought! I had a blast the first few weeks playing the "ditzy blonde" (until everyone learned I was a computer science major, lol), and all the friends I made in college became much closer to me than the friends I had in high school! (All of my bridesmaids in my wedding where old college roommates!) So good luck, and have fun!

Welcome to mut!! I am Tesia from ny! Since you are goin to Atlanta, you should be careful. The sun sometimes makes marks even more darker.

Hi glitterchic100,Welcome to makeuptalk. Just wanted to mention to you that you could try one of the whitening products. I have seen an Ella Bache one on QVC,nut there are other's. Using a sunscreen on the area should prevent it getting darker.Nice to meet you btw

Hi glitterchic100! Welcome to MUT! I'm Melissa from Atlanta! Congrats on your upcoming move to Georgia! What college will you be attending? I think it will give you a fresh start, as Jennifer mentioned. That should boost your self-esteem!

I wish you the best of luck with Dr. Jan Adam's product. When I worked at Walgreen's all I heard were raves for the product.

If you stick around, you can learn some more great skincare tips and makeup, obviously that will boost your self-esteem, too. I've also found that the friendships I've created here have helped me to become a more confident, positive, radiant person inside and out in every day life.

Welcome! I'm going to move this thread to skin care forum so you can get more answer.

Welcome to MUT, I'm sure you will find out a solution from someone here. Although, if you are prone to spots, getting a tan may create more, not diminish them.

hello glitterchic and welcome to mut. i'm monnie from michigan. if you're happy with the way your regime is working then great, but i like aveeno clear complexion foaming cleanser for evening out and balancing skin tone while keeping the acne in check. remember your water! this is the most important step in keeping your skin healthy and radiant.

as for self esteem -

1.remember that people will always be themselves whether it

works for you or not, so don't get caught up!

2.be true to who you are and don't make concessions to please others - if you do you'll only be disappointed in the end.

3.always have a plan b for the decisions you make - keeps you from having to make hard decisions on the spot.

4.buy a journal and empty you head everyday before going to bed -

believe what ever it is will keep better on paper than taxing your brain.

5.pick two affirmations and say them to yourself everyday - belief in

youself can change your destiny! - you can have more if you like, but one of them must be "i'm beautiful and blessed!"

good luck and keep in touch!

Glitterchic, my advice would be to use a good sunblock after applying this product for lightening your dark spots. It's really important. I hope your college experience is a pleasant one, and remember.."don't sweat the small stuff..and its all small stuff" I read that book some time back.

Eightthirty, so this product is offically available at Walgreens? I might have to check it out because I have some melasma and I am dark skinned. I had read up about it some time back but was not able to find it. -Thanks

Welcome to MUT! I am Marisol from San Francisco and I look forward to getting to know you.

Have you thought about going to a derm? Now would be the perfect time for you to get some professional help with this, since you're going to college soon! I also had some success with MaMa lotion..you can read about it at skincarerx.com. It works for all skin types, but ecspecially well for African Americans. I definitely know how it feels to have low self-esteem..and you just kind of have just have to look at the good traits you have (inside and outside) and come to apperciate that. Like I may not have great skin, but I'm taller than a lot of my friends and that's usually seen as a good trait..you get the idea. I've learn to have more self-respect and not beat myself up so much about little things. I've also gained a lot of confidence just by taking care of myself-getting enough sleep, eating healthier, working out, and rewarding myself when I've made accomplishments. It may sound corny, but it has worked for me.
