I love the sun and I love being outdoors on beautiful days. But I am concerned that I am putting myself at risk for skin cancer.
I have the typical Irish skin and no matter what, I always end up having sunburn.
I do wear sunscreen, but throughout the day it wears off and I do not always reapply it. I decided to look in a health foods store for something to help protect my skin from free-radical damage.
I found a Vitamin C face cream that adds an extra level of protection against sun damage and skin cancer. It’s called Ultra C Face Cream and is made by Reviva Labs. I have used a few of their products before so I decided to try it.
Has anyone else heard of it?
One of the main reasons I decided to try it was because the face cream stays on all day and they recommend you wear it under your makeup and sunscreen. So it seemed like the perfect fit for me, especially if I don’t have to reapply it every two or three hours like I have to do with sunscreen.
The face cream is made with a special stabilized form of ascorbic acid augmented by a unique Vitamin C component from cabbage juice called ascorbigen. I did a little bit of research on ascorbigen and discovered that it provides an added level of protection from free-radical sun damage when worn underneath sunscreen, because as I have discovered, sunscreen only works on the surface and ultraviolet rays often get past it.
The Ultra C Cream is not a sunscreen, but its anti-flammatory and antioxidant action is a great defense against free-radical sun damage.
The product tells you to apply this face cream first and then put on your sunscreen. The reason is that the cream is absorbed and will protect your skin from free-radical ultraviolet rays that get past the sunscreen. I’ve only started using this product, but have not been sunburned since I began applying it.
