Hi all,

whenever I use hair gel, after an hour it becomes powdery as if I have applied some white powder to my hair. I want to look the hair shiny and have a good hold on shape. Anyone have the same problem?

Please give me some advice.

thanks

it depends what kind you use.............Deep has some out there that comes in a little grey ball type thing..I think it's a line for guys.......anyway, it specifically states that it will make your hair shiny.......don't use too much and rub it between your hands and rub all over your head.........don't touch your hair once it dries b/c that is when it can make it look white.

basically try different brand and use less........HTH!!

Yeah usually the white flaky look is a sign you used too much... Might want to try different brands with more shine and hold power so you can use less to avoid the flakies.

Or you could try some mousse

Ditto!

It depends on the type of gel I use too. I get the white flakes with only certain types. It takes a lot of trial ands error for me to find one that doesn't. My problem now is it doesn't flake but I still put too much on and it gets stiff.

Have you ever tried a spray gel? Those worked best for me when I used gels, and I didn't get a powdery residue throughout my hair. Also, maybe you could try using a pomade or wax instead.

When I buy a gel that is too strong for my hair it ends up being powdery and flaking. Thats why i have to buy light hold gel, and i have curly hair.

yeah, you want to use a small amount at a time... rub between your hands and add more as needed. Putting too much in one area can cause buildup....
