I'm feeling quite stressed atm with leaving school and moving onto collage, the last few years I've suffered with some bad anxiety which has effected my skin. Now I want to move on and start a fresh and feel confident with how I look but I can't. My skin on my face keeps flaring up with redness, my face feels hot and its not nice, espically in social situations (people must think wtf is up with her face?). I've talked to my mum but shes not bothered and says I'm obbessing? but I'm not.

I need to find a skincare rountine to help with the redness, I'm not going to the doctors because he doesn't even help with my eczema patches I keep getting on my legs so hes not going to help with this. I need something simple to help calm the redness down and its flare ups. (ino stress triggers it more, but its still there when I'm not stressed

My skincare rountine atm (I have sensitive skin):

Cleans face: Clinique mild facial soap

Moisturiser: Emu Oil (but it doesn't help and seems to make it redder)

thats my skincare rountine, I also use sunscreen for when its sunny.

Could anyone recommend a good product that could help calm the redness or something that strenghtens the skin?

you should really go to a dermatologist about your skin condition. And change the doctor you have now!

do you know if you have any allergies to anything? because sometimes it may be cause by allergies.

the redness can also be caused by your diet, such as high intake in sugar and MSG. You should check one of the recent post about the A-Z skin..it has something on flushing skin.

you might want to reconsider the products you are using, especially if you have sensitive skin. I'd say stop using clinique products because many of them are way too strong..even the sensitive ones! and the cleansers you use make sure that it does not have any scrubs in it because it will just make things worst, creating lotsa microscratches!

what about the scrubs and masks that you are using? how are they? are the scrubs you are using, are they beads or seeds like? it is a better alternative to use beads like scrubs.

and make sure that when you scrub or cleanse your face, do not concentrate too much on the cheek areas/ areas of redness...it will just make you skin thinner and redder if you constantly cleanse and scrub them. instead focus on oilier parts of your face (that is if you have any)

hope this helps

Thanks for the help

, I'm going in town tommorow, I'll check out some products for sensitive skin. x

Yeah, a derm will tell you exactly what's wrong and will help you by giving you special products.

Good luck !

Sounds you definitely should change doctors until you find one that can help you. No reason to continue suffering b/c the one you have now can't help you.

Editing to add that if you have been suffering with "bad anxiety", more than you feel is usual for someone your age, please see a doctor about medication to control anxiety. It could make a world of difference, if this in fact is an issue for you. (hope you do not find this offensive)

No derm I go to ever helps me properly aside from giving me potent steroids for my flare-ups. I had this same issue this weekend - the skin around my eyes was SO red and puffy adn my neck had an awful red painful rash. EVERYTHING burned. So what helped me - and it took about 2 days before it subsided - was aquaphor every night before I went to bed. I sprayed my skin with some thermal water (vichy, le roche-posay, evian all make some) - while it was still damp - put some aquaphor on it before going to bed. The redness is a LOT better. Aloe vera also helps a lot for redness.

Liz Earle developed her own skin care range to combat problems like your own. She now ships worldwide and has award winning products that I think would really be beneficial to you condition. Take a look and read about them. www.lizearle.com

Lee.

Shea butter. The raw stuff you get at african stores. It will nourish and rejuvinate your skin while stopping the redness. Also soothes. Kind of a balm, if I must.

Katie have you tried the Dove beauty bar for Sensitve skin? My sister has psoariasis and another sister has mild rosacea. This doesnt aggravate their skins at all - it's cheap so why not give it a try? Also try it alongside a Eucerin moisturiser, easily available from boots hun x

Eucerin has a Redness Relief line product, both cleanser and moisturizer. A gal I work with says it has really helped her redness problem.

the best thing you could do for ur skin is ..

1- drink plenty of water.

2- get enough sleep

3- use ur sunblock in the morning avoiding ofundations ( u can use them other times but its bad to do it in the sun)

4- since u have a sensitive sking , then avoid the scented soaps and get a sensitive skin cleanser.

that's what i do and everybody like my skin

sorry forgot to tell u what i use for my sensitive skin...

1- cleanser : Sebamed soap ph5.5 its good and also Dove ( these two works very well with me)

2- moisturiser : the best one worked for me was by Revivre don't know if u have it there but ask about it in the pharmacies, its a littlebit expensive but worth it. or u can get a moisturizer with cucumber extract these have cooling effect on the skin too, there is one i know by Elizabith Arden.

3- the most important thing is the sunblock: u should apply it everyday i use revivre and Louis Wimdmer ( both of them are excellent)

these are the products i use daily. i wish i helped. but if nothing work out for u then u better try a dermatologest its better.

Also, using a warm tea tree oil compress is a very good facial antiseptic, as are turmeric based creams.

Eucerin moisturiser is good too as Nessicle said. i tried it myself , but i prefer the revivre one.

Also, you may not need medication for anxiety, but going to therapy might be helpful. Congnitive Behavioral Therapy is proven to be the most effective form. If you are interested, make sure you screen therapists well...look for one who uses CBT. Also, the college you're going to will probably have a student psychological services that you can use if you want to wait 'till you get to college. I wish you luck with your skin and your anxiety!

(Sorry...I know that's a bit much. I'm about to go to graduate school for counseling psychology so that's why I bring it all up. Plus I like to see people use less-serious methods first. Kind of like using OTC acne treatments before going on prescription stuff.) I'm sorry if I offended!

Be careful with Eucerin redness relief - it made my skin burn when it was at its worst (but ok on other days).

Excellent point jessimau---I didn't mean to imply that the solution to all problem anxiety is medication. Thanks for reminding us about appropriate treatment options.

Thanks for all these replys.. I'm fine now, I've started college and I'm doing art and design. My skin is still up and down but since Ive been using sunscreen its helped my sensitive skin loads
