So I've been having a heck of a time for a few years on controlling this face of mine. In high school, i had a great complexion and used Covergirl liquid foundation all the time, no worries. Then, after graduation, I noticed my forehead becoming shinier/greasier and on my nose. Have always battled blackheads on my nose, but I just figure it's normal because my family has it too (my Grandpa was half-Cherokee and had it so I figured it's just genetics and I'll have to live with it.) Now, I did go through a very, very tough time in my life for the first 2 yrs out of high school, so maybe that gave me a hormonal imbalance to change to oily skin? I'm not sure. What I do know is this, I've tried darn near EVERYTHING to control my oils. I don't like buying expensive things for makeup/beauty so I'm not a high-end buyer whatsoever, plus I can't afford that stuff. Now, I'm 24, still battling my t-zone, and for the past 6 months (after moving to Florida from Indiana) my chin on both sides have had cystic acne. Or at least I know it acne because my male doctor pointed it out :/ (like i didn't know I had zits on my face? pshhh, please!) I have tried many blemish cleansers, foundations that "control oil," primers to matte my face, powders (which I completely hate because it gets everywhere and looks so noticeable without any good coverage,) back to liquids, everything.

I just need help. Is my face oily or combo? Or is it just really dry and my forehead is trying to make up for it?

Here is my "beauty" regimen as of right now that has REALLY seemed to work. Yet, I just need to know my skin type for sure so I can purchase that kind of product. (i always go for stuff that oil-free, oil-controlling, for oily skin...you get the pic.)

I use Olay's Pro-X Spin Brush thing, with their exfoliator, tone with Dickinson's Witch Hazel, and then moisturize with Neutrogena Naturals Nourishing Multi-Vitamin Moisturizer stuff. This has really helped a lot. I give most of that credit to the witch hazel and neutrogena. I've noticed a huge reduction in this cystic acne breaks outs and redness from them as well. This leaves my face clean and hydrated. I will say in the mornings when I wake up, my forehead is shiny and greasy-ish. Not nearly as bad, but it's still a pain. (I also take biotin every morning to help grow out my hair, which i think is contributing to oil production in my bangs, which in turn, could be making my forehead oily)

If anyone has any suggestions or whatnot as to what my face may be, please let me know!! I'm desperate!

I have combo, sensitive skin and that sounds like what it may be. If you are using your spin brush and witch hazel everyday you may be stripping your skin and causing it to create more oil. Try using it once or twice a week only. When you cleanse, make sure to steam your pores open first with a warm cloth and then wash it. This will get rid of a lot of junk without doing unnecessary pulling on your skin. Cetaphil cleansers and lotions are great on sensitive skin and you can pick them up in Target or Walmart pretty much anywhere.
