Hi Everyone.

I need some curling iron help. I have naturally curly hair. I have always been happy with it but I wanted to try using a curling iron to create more "formal" curls...you know dressier. I bought a NuMe Reverse curling wand and have used it a few time and like the look I get. That said, I seem to have a real frizz problem, especially on top.

Here is what I am currently doing:

1. Wash hair - Shampoo/conditioner - sulfate free.

2. Towel dry and brush out my hair.

3. Twirl it in a bun and go to sleep.

4. In the morning, it 99% dry. Let it finish air drying.

5. Spray it with Tresseme Heat Protecting Spray and brush through.

6. Flat iron my hair to take the natural curl out - not stick straight but enough to get most of the curl out.

7. Let it cool.

8. Curl hair.

9. Finish with flex hold hairspray.

Should I be using some other product or is there some technique I am missing?

Thank you for any advice.

(Oh, I have super healthy hair as I have never used heat on it prior to these curling attempts.)

Honestly, if you are curling your whole head, skip the flat iron. I have naturally curly hair and I just go straight to the curling iron with my air dried curly state hair. Less heat on your hair and it should hold better. Also, avoid brushing you hair, finger product through and touch your hair minimally while drying. You could also sleep with a silk headscarf wrapped around your bun to get less frizz. And my last tip would be to use a "finisher" following styling. These can be serums, creames etc made for making your hair shiny after styling. I like the Secret Weapon by John Freida Frizz-Ease line. Its a cream, there's also a shine enhancer from his brillant brunette line that's nice as well (and smells divine. Let me know how your styling goes :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks for the tips, Kaitlyn. I will definitely try curling my curls next time. I was think I need a finishing serum but wasn't sure what kind or brand. I will give it a go. Thanks!!!
