Hello lovelies, I could use a bit of advice since at the moment my skin is reacting no matter what product I use.

I started a using new products (all Kiehls) in November and these worked wonders on my skin - it cleared up and was just looking really great (like it never has before), with only an occasional pimple or so.

But then, from one day to another about six weeks later, it started acting weird. Maybe it was because of winter setting in, but suddenly I got an awful red rash all along my jawline and under my eyes with tiny itching bumps. When the bumps started to fade again I was left with super dry and rough skin.

So I thought maybe the products (Blue Herbal cleanser and Ultra Facial Cream) were a bit too drying or not rich enough for winter and switched to a heavier moisturizer (Panthenol cream). This worked great for about two weeks and just when the old rash began to disappear, again from one day to the next all of this happened again along my jawline and this time all over my cheeks.

So I figured the blue cleanser might be too harsh and switched to a really mild cleanser intended for dry skin to let it calm down. Still, I was left with dry and itchy skin, plus tons of pimples again.

So what does my skin want? If I use a strong cleanser all the pimples go away completely but obviously I get dry skin then. If I use mild products I get lots of pimples because obviously the mild cleanser doesn't cleanse throughly enough.

I already tried so many products (about three different cleansers and just as many moisturizers from Kiehls and at least these seemed to work better than the other things I used all the years before) from mild to strong, I'm at a loss what to do and tired of spending so much money when everything seems to work wonders at first and then kills my skin ...

Help, any ideas what to do?

Hi,

Try not to keep switching products so much. Pick a cleanser and a moisturizer that are mild, gentle and fragrance free.

When that happened to my skin about a month and half ago, I pretty much stopped using everything and just used olive oil/castor oil with some tea tree oil to cleanse and used Glaxal Base cream (very thick and heavy but really gentle and non-irritating) on dry spots to moisturize... I used nothing else and it got better in about a week or so.

I use benzoyl peroxide on my zits to clear them up but it might not be a good one to use for you if your skin is that sensitive...

I hope you find something to help your skin soon. Best of luck!

I agree with the above poster. In some cases your skin needs to adjust to new products, even if the new product happens to be mild. Your skin needs mild more than anything so stick with that. A good moisturizer with a few drops of tea tree oil should help the rash as well as heal pimples.

Thanks so much for your input!! I really need to get some tea tree oil, this sounds great!

i would suggest using products for sensitive skin until you're able to determine your skin type.

Be careful the products you're using may be too harsh, particularly if it contains a bunch of natural ingredients. Natural isn't alwayyyys good. Hope your skin sorts itself out soon

I agree with trying something for sensitive skin and not changing so often. If you do get something for sensitive skin, keep using it and let your skin adjust to the change. I used to be one of those people that changed often but since I've been using my skin care regimen for about 6 months, my skin truly has never been better.

Home remedies are the best for sensitive skin type. Try almond oil, olive oil, mask of honey and gram flour.

it could be that you are using too much of a certain active ingredient, such as salicylic or AHAs. you should check the active ingredient and switch to something not as strong for a little while, so you skin can get back on track.

over medicating you skin can cause it to get irritated.

tea tree is super good for your skin, like some of the others said

hope this helps! i know skin issues can be so frustrating...

just a thought. Have you been on the new birth control when your skin was reacting weird? This was the case with me.
