Maybe I'm just a lip product addict, but these are the things I use to transform all my lip colors.

Soothing products

These help with chapped lips.

Find- balm, stick, and gloss with SPF coverage.

When your lips are chapped on the go, a balm can be put on top of your existing color. Chapstick form can be used as a base for color, to prevent flaking. Soothing gloss can be added for shine and a finishing touch.

EDIT Also, consider one soothing lip balm with emmollients and one without. With for removing dead skin, without emmollients to put over lip stains without harming them.

Flavored products

These are great for a date, or when you want a pick-me-up.

Find- Stick/balm and gloss

For when you want to taste yummy. Gloss adds shine AND flavor to existing color, stick allows you to have smooth, tasty and bare lips.

Tinted products

Good for when you're rushing out and can't paint on a high maintenance lip color.

Find- chapstick and gloss

I have a tinted chapstick and two glosses (one is a stick gloss that I toss in my purse for low maintenance looks. One of my soothing glosses doubles as a tinted gloss.

Basically that is 6-7 products that can be used with existing lip colors to make them into something new. With these products I manage to only carry one or two tubes of lip product with me in a small purse. Hope this helps.

ANOTHER EDIT- I don't see how water as an ingredient in lip products will help it moisturize. When you wash your hands, it leaves them anything but moisturized.

All right, here are my HG lip products.

Good spf/tint/moisturizer: neutrogena's moisturshine lip soother (my favorite. Gives even the darlest lips a tint. I have it in glaze, don't be afraid of the neon color in the tube) It has a slight cooling effect that I love in my lip products, if you like this look for peppermint as an ingredient.

Soothing chapstick: I basically pick anything up that will moisturize my lips. I ran out of my HG that I got in St. Louis and I have to find it again (apparently it is made near my house. It has cool scents like clove and orange, also very nice emollients). Otherwise, Carmex forever!! Although carmex does not have SPf (?). There will probably also be some very nice organic lip products with SPF at your local "hippie store".

Soothing lip balm: For the longest time I've used Urban decay's lube in a tube. Great for patting on over lip color to shield and soothe lips. Has a nice pepperminty cooling effect. It was a must buy because I love anything with my city's name on it. The Chicago one isn't very purple pigmented, despite its color in the tube. I think the Miami one has SPF, but I've never tried it.

Tinted chapstick: Burt's bees shimmer. I have it in Rhubarb. Very nicely pigmented, moisturizes nicely. Handy and small tube, good price.

Tinted gloss: Covergirl's lipslicks. Also moisturizes in a pinch. I heard someone say it has no pigment but I have it in Daring, and it tints my dark lips pretty well.

Flavorful gloss: Sugar's I taste like sugar. I have two mini lip gloss cases of this stuff. Be careful because if you wear this one daily, you'll get sick of the taste.

Flavorful chapstick: I just ran out of the Body shop's chapstick. It came in a purple tube, I'm sure you can find it unless it is discontinued. I think it also had SPF 15. Very nice subtle flavor.

Flavorful chapstick: Jelly belly's flavored chapsticks! I have a factory by me so they sell all the merchandise there. I have this in a sour lemon and lime flavor. Fun for drinks.

If I missed some I'll add it later. I won't add the products I have that are D/C.

WOW...thats quite some info there. you are officially the resident lip expert here on MUT, haha :rockwoot:

every time i use a flavored lip gloss i end up eating it right off the lips in about 2 minutes. which is why i never buy products like lip smackers anymore!

Haha! If that were true, it's because I'm obsessive about my lips. I like to frame them always because they're my favorite feauture.

Haha! Well flavors aren't for everyone I guess

i love the covergirl lipslicks but they discontinued it. I never put on lipgloss without chapstick first and with the covergirl it was like chapstick and gloss in one left my lips super soft, shiny, and flake free.

Thanks for the info! Any idea where someone could maybe find the Jelly belly?? I love those things and a Lip product from them would be the Greatest thing in the World!!!!!!!! :rockwoot:

:10: :scared: :sleepyhead: Nooo! They D/c it? oh bummer!!!

Jelly belly lip products... maybe try their website, or maybe they only sell them at the factory!

I like Ulta's Ultimate Pout Lip Sugar Scrub. It's great for exfoliating your lips.
