I've usually got quite good skin but I've recently been put on a new contraceptive pill and it's just become awful! I've had to be put on Dianette again to sort out the mess that this other pill has done - my skin hurts so much and I feel so ugly! I've got a night out this Thursday and also on Saturday and I'm praying these go before then! They're more noticeable when I don't have any make up, because I'm quite pale they look really angry red! The oil I'm producing on my skin is crazy too, and I have to wash my hair and shower twice a day to get rid of the smell of sebum - I feel horrible :-(

Bad skin days are enough to get anyone down, I hope it gets better soon hon. Have you changed your skincare routine since things started going downhill? Maybe someone can help you with this.

Aw poor you Vanessa, I know the horribleness of bad skin days! Though honestly in your pic they don't look that bad, by the weekend they will be easily camouflaged. (HUGS) though

thank you girls! *sniff* It just makes you feel so gross I suppose! Haven't changed my skincare routine but I have been on a different pill for the past 4 months and its completely wrecked my skin! I have just been put back on the one I was on before so hopefully it should settle down! Thank yoiu for the hugs xx

have you tried using the organic apple cider vinegar on your face? go look at the thread! i think it really helps with hormonal skin issues...and its not overly drying...also the asprin mask could help...asprin is not only a beta hydroxy acid--but its also a skin calmer--anti-inflammatory and takes the red out--dont make the mask as heavy as you would to exfoliate--use less asprin and more water, or use some aloe vera gell in it--then put it on for about 15 minutes...this should help with the redness...you can also crush up a cuccumber and put it in the fridge--put that all over your face and chill out--that really helps bring down any swelling and redness...

best of luck--i cant be on the pill cause it makes me crazy---hope this works out for you.

my face has been recently breaking out too. there is a huge bright red zit a little off center in the middle of my forehead. and one on my right upper cheek. once again bright red and just AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I'm going to look in to getting the ACV ingredients this weekend, going to go to an organic store near me and see if they have it in there! Thanks for all of the advice you're all so kind and helpful!

Sorry for a late reply. I somehow missed this thread.

You said you're changing your bc, which will definitely improve your skin. Problems you're having because of bc are hormonal, so first thing you need to do is get your hormonal balance back to normal.

ACV works wonders and so does drinking plenty of water. Don't wash your face too much - you may dry it and cause a whole bunch of new problems.

HTH!

Thanks Maja! I am trying to drink more water and I'm addicted to tea so I've switched to decaf so that should hopefully up my water intake! It'll take a few weeks for the new b/c to get in to my system so I'm definitely going to do the ACV toner so hopefully that will reduce the oiliness I'm getting at the moment and also reduce the amount of spots I'm getting. They seem to be just hard, swollen, painful lumps under my skin which i know for definite is harmonal but hoping the ACV will at least tone the redness down - hey it's worth a try!

I today went and bought some Simple Foaming Face wash which is soap, colour and fragrance free and has vitamins in it so hopefully I won't strip my natural oils away, which i know can cause more breakouts!

Thanks for the advice everyone! xx

Recently I've become kinda obsesses with the Boots Botanics Skincare range. I use the skin brightening cleanser, toner and some serum capsules. All by Botanics. Its cheap and its improved my skin ALOT. Better than Clinique or any other brand I've used. Glycolic acid and microdermabrasion works great aswell. The Avon stuff is great for those 2. Get them on Ebay for really cheap. :sdrop:

I've been addicted to the Botanics toner too!! Called "Skin Brightening Toner" or something like that, it's freakin brilliant! And Boots has a BOGOF on that range too right now, for all UKers interested - I keep stocking up on it. From the top of my head this toner (£3.99 I think) has Glycolic, Lactic and Malic acid in it and it has really evened out my skin - no more breakouts, yay! And I haven't been irritated/dried out either after 3-4 weeks of using it. Sorry for yackering on but this toner really is love :icon_love

Also, Vanessa I'm not sure if you're only interested in organic ACV but I got some from Tesco a while ago (I'm sure they still have it) if you need somewhere to buy it from.

ooh I like the sound of this Botanics toner! I have used the range in the past and was quite impressed but just never bought anything from the range again. I think I feel a purchase coming on.....

thanks for the tip about the ACV - I don't mind whether it's organic or not so I'll check out Tesco this weekend! thanks!

you DEFINITELY want the organic vinegar--it MUST be the organic apple cider unpasteurized undistilled vinegar or it wont work :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

just so you know....

There you go then Vanessa...health food shop it is for you (and I might pop in and have a look too!)

Sorry that is happening to you! You should try a detox or something. I don't know if that would help a lot, but you could get rid of ur body toxins.

Hi

I just have to say that there is hope for your skin!! I was in your exact situation last fall. My doc took me off of Diane and put me on Marvelon. My face broke out so bad. I cried a lot about it and didn't want to go out. Like you, my skin was so awesome before switching so it was just complete horror for me.

Anyhow, I just want to tell you that I am back on Diane and after 3 packages my face is back to normal now.

You will have your old skin back before you know it!!!

Oh wow!! Thanks for that! I really don't like that Marvelon rubbish! It also made me gain weight!

I know that some people say that Diane only suppresses the acne and doesnt get rid of it but in my case I came off it in November because I had to have an operation and didnt go on Marvelon until January and in those couple of months I didn't have one spot so I believe it really cleared my spots up then that stupid Marvelon brought them all back :-( !!

I've been taking the Diane for 3 days and I can already notice that the production of oil has calmed down a little bit! If they take me off Diane again I've been told to try either Cilest or Yasmeen as they contain the same sorta ingredients and hormones as Dianette but not as high a dose apparently!

Thanks Rocknrollgoddes too I will definitely go to the organic shop then!

Just from what you have said, it sounds like that pill may have too much hormone for your body...or maybe a different hormone added that you are not used too...
