Prepare yourselves for a bit of a rant, ladies!

My hair is the bane of my life - I hate it! I used to have really thick hair, but a few years ago it became really thin (from overwashing, probably, rather than anything else!) and ever since it's been a complete mess! It's completely flat and lifeless, despite my using volume mousse and shampoo etc. I cut it into a bob recently because my long hair was straggly and unkempt, but now it makes me look frumpy! It's made worse by the fact that my hair isn't straight, curly or wavy naturally - it's just shapeless, if you get that? I kind of regret having it cut, as my long hair made me feel more feminine.

Also, I have issues with my hair colour - I'm naturally a medium blonde, and I've had it highlighted twice over the last two years. My skin tone is awkward, as it's pale with slightly sallow undertones as well as being acne-prone, so I'm guessing that blonde is possibly not the best colour for my complexion? I'm actually thinking about going platinum (arghh- I know, right?), but I might make a whole new thread about that as this one is pretty lengthy already!

If you need pics, I'm happy to supply them - does anyone have any advice at all about these problems?! Thankyou so much guys!

As hard as it will be, the best thing to do might be to leave it alone for now. bleaching it or lightening it will just cause more damage. Maybe your hair needs a rest. Maybe you are using too much product to try to achieve what you are looking for. It will grow but as long as you keep changing the color or highlighting you are just creating drier areas. I went through this and so did my best friend who had an extreme case. Years of highlighting her naturally dark hair had left it a frizzy damaged mess. the only thing to do was cut it off and let it grow a little then she did have it colored but not highlighted again. Sorry you are so unhappy with it.

I agree with Kelly. Maybe the best thing is to let your hair grow out a bit and save the highlighting until your hair's a bit healthier.

I find that when I use too much product, my hair looks great at first. But the next day it looks like crap. If I wash my hair to frequently - more than 2 x week - it looks worse as well - weird aye?

What about playing with a more interesting cut. I think the bob's with a long front and short back are really hot! Or maybe there is something else interesting you can try.

Personally, I was in a huge rut 2 years ago. I cut my long hair dark reddish blond - into a jaw length bob with bangs, and I dyed my hair medium brown.

I am keeping the colour but growing the length out slowly.

Hope I've helped. If you want to post some pics that would be fine.

I would like to see pics. I was growing my hair out from a bad Cut I was given at the mall. It was finally down to almost my shoulders but last week I went and got it cut into a bob where it is short in the back and long in the front. I really like it, but can't wait for it to grow out. I also got red highlights and blonde. I hate the red ones, so I won't be doing that again!!
