my skin has been soooo frustrating lately and i've tried so many different things and nothing was helping...so yesterday out of desperation i came up with this: first i applied olive oil all over my face to dissolve sunscreen, make up and all that, i sat with it for 20,30 minutes and then i washed my face with a regular foaming cleanser. and for the first time in months my skin wasn't irritaed, red, itchy or dry. actully i've tried OCM in the past but it was always too greasy and after a few weeks i would start breaking out. now i've found that if you wash the oil afterwards the results are amazing. glowy, fresh skin. i just thought i might share it with you

i have the same problem. dry skin whether it's cold or hot. and i haven't tried olive oil like this. but last time i used it on my face it started breaking out

this info's great

o0o man embaressing....eczema...aha

Yah!! Glad you found something that's working for you. I have been doing the OCM method also, but I use a toner afterwards which removes any residual oil. This just seems to work better for me than leaving the oil.

My face gets really, really dry too. It feels like even rough sometimes, it is so dry! I will have to try the olive oil. Sometimes I mix a little vaseline in with my moisturizer & it makes it more thicker.

Thanks for the idea!

I also use a cleansing oil from Dermalogica (Precleanse) before I use my regular cleanser (also from Dermalogica). This has made my skin so much better and my skin so soft now.

Regular cleanser can't remove all make-up, sunscreen etc. so using a oil before cleansing is a great idea. At least this is what my "skincare lady who gives me facials" (sorry, don't know the word in english) told me.

Glad to hear OCM is working out for you!

I have oily/combination, pimple-prone Asian skin that tends to break out mightily during that time of the month. I tried a modified version of OCM after reading about it on this board and a few other places, and I find that it works better for me than just using oil as a cleanser day in day out.

What I do is:

1) Slather a 50:50 mix of castor oil and grapeseed oil (EVOO should work fine too) on my face just after cleansing with conventional facial soaps

2) I wait for a few minutes, then steam my face or wash with a hot washcloth.

3) Go in the shower

4) I also use a toner after the oil treatment, and it gives my face a nice glow.

I must say that I have been having the *LEAST* oily face in my entire life ever since using the OCM treatment! Many of my pimples have diminished and now I only have to worry about treating the scars and enlarged pores. However, I never use it in the morning (or during that time of the month) because then my face feels really oily during the day.

I tried something similar to this with grapeseed oil. I use it to remove my eye makeup, but my face was feeling a bit dry, so I massaged it in all over my face for a minute or two, and then washed it off with cleanser. My skin felt more deeply cleaned and much softer

Olive oil is great for dry spots, but i find Nivea cream, the old fahioned one in the blue tub helps with my dry patches.
