My skin has been extremely dry since I've used the "Oil-free Eye makeup remover" by Neutrogena. It's like yucky and flaky.... ARGH! Now my moisturizer isn't doing it's job. It stings my face and makes it have REALLY itchy red patches. My skin looks like snake skin! ):

It's around the lower cheek part between the bottom of my ear lobes and my mouth.

I use a chemical exfoliator every day.. and exfoliating pads every week, I also use mud masks every month. My face is smooth for the day then it gets dry again when I wake up...

Depending on what chemical you are using, sounds like you are over doing the chemical exfoliant to me... I thought you had to let your skin heal between....

Cut back on the chemicals. Perhaps try a heavy moisturizer at night - I like the Nivea Creme that you can get in the 0.99 metal tubs. Too heavy for day use, but perfect at night.

I agree, cut down on the chemical exfoliation, it looks like you're doing too much. I agree that Nivea cream is really good, you can also try shea butter.

Ahh, I see, the exfoliator I use is a daily mirco beads one so I thought I had to use it daily... and MUA has been telling me that it's recommended.

And I've been doing it for the last 3 years, nothing happened until now :/

First, look for a gentler eye make up remover. Sounds like your problems started (or surfaced) when you incorporated the Neutrogena.

I've used Maybelline Expert Eyes 100% Oil Free Eye Make Up remover and it does a pretty good job without irritating my skin.

You could try using Vaseline on your face at bedtime. Apply Vaseline to damp skin - helps keep moisture trapped in.

Chemical exfoliant of BHA is much gentler that AHA and can be used every night.

If you are using an AHA, try a BHA and see if it isn't helping.

Since your skin is exfoliating by chemical, why use a pad?

Your face only sheds its cells no more than once a month - if I'm wrong let me know.

So doing a manual scrub every week in addition to the chemical seems unnecessary and will irritate your skin.

My skin feels absolutely wonderful after using the pad but it just feels clean when I use the daily scrub - I don't ALWAYS use it weekly, I forget sometimes.. most times so it's between 1 to 2 week ish. The container says to use it weekly so yea.

As for the flakey-ness.. its like when your nose have been wiped too many times when it's cold season. It's naturally a red patches like rashes. There's more flakes everyday and they just fall out the size of umm.. small fish food flakes, even looks like it too.

I actually had the same issue 4 years ago, I knew nothing about exfoliating or moisturzing - thats why I've been doing it for the last 3 years now

.. and I doubt it's a sun burn, I rarely go outside and my bedroom windows face away from the sun, so the sunlight only gets into my room from 8am - 9am then I get nothing.

Olive oil works as a make-up remover and it safe as well as moisturizing for the eyes. As people have said, exfoliators on dry skin can irritate your skin causing more dryness. With your skin, I would exfoliate once a week.

It could also be because of how hot your take showers with, but I feel like the culprit is the chemical exfoliator.

Anything that contains shea butter or cocoa butter will do the trick. If your skincare routine makes it worse I suggest you change to organic products because they won't dry the skin and natural skincare will only enhance healthy new skin cells.

Thankyou for your help, guys!

I've purchased the nivea stuff.. lets hope this works *fingers crossed*
