It's the time of the year when less is definitly more, your make-up bag should be feeling a lot lighter in teh summer months.
Here are some tipson how to wear less makeup and still look fabulous!
Start with your skin, there’s going to be more on show so make sure you have your bathroom well stocked, the aim is to shimmer and glow in all the right places.
Body
Regular Exfoliation is important throughout the year, but never more crucial than in the summer months, especially if you are a slave to fake tanning. One of my favourites to take on holiday is the Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream, as it contains Menthol which is perfect to invigorate and cool your skin after a day in the sun. This rich and creamy body scrub leaves skin silky smooth and ready for a layer of moisturiser to give your skin that polished red-carpet glow.
A favourite amongst make-up artists is the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Gloss, if you’ve ever wondered how those girls in FHM look like they have such flawless skin; it’s probably down to a generous application of this on the photo shoot. It’s great value at £4.15 for a tube, so you can use it all summer long and still afford yet another pair
of Havianas – all those colours are just irresistible!
Foundation
You should really have a separate foundation for summer and winter, skin textures and tones do change with the seasons. Choose a more sheer foundation for the hot weather, I love the Becca Sheer Foundation, or my little tip: mix moisturiser with your foundation to give a lighter coverage.
Eyeshadow In the summer I like to use a cream Eyeshadow, it’s so easy to apply you just sweep over the eye area with your fingertips, the colour can be as heavy as you like. Once the colour is on your skin and reacts with your natural body heat, the result is that shiny, sexy smoulder you see on models in the magazines. For nighttime glamour, smudge a soft eye pencil close to lashes to really sizzle!Clinique Touch Tint for Eyes come in Pearl Formulas, I love Nude Sparkle. £12
Blush & Glow
Opt for a busher or bronzer that contains a bit of sparkle, Bobbi Brown Simmer Bricks are just perfect. Each compact contains five different shades of pearl pigments, so when you lightly dust forehead cheeks and nose the effect is a very natural glow, can even be used over eyelids, so this is a great product to take out in the evening for touch ups between cocktails.
Bobbi’s Shimmer Brick Compact £27 Nars Blush in Orgasm is the perfect pink, apply on apples of cheeks to achieve that natural, naughty flush.
Lips
Glossy lips are a must, I love the Corals and Pinks around this summer. I wear Bourjois 3D Effet No.19 on it’s own or over lip stick, it has a hint of pearl and is super glossy, it seems to really plump up your lips for the perfect pout.
Mac Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF 15 is perfect for pool side glamour and can also be used on cheeks, make sure you blend well over cheekbones for a natural sheer finish.
So I’ve given you some products that can double up, to give you less to carry around with you, but please make sure you make room for a good sunscreen and re-apply throughout the day. We want to shimmer like Gisele for a few more years, not end up on the car lot looking like Pat Butcher…So remember a healthy tan is a fake one!
