I have had it done professionally and at home and they both are good but for $$$ purposes, I will continue to use the at home Physicians Formula Microdermabrasion. It has the same end result, it just takes longer (length of time) because it is not as strong as the ones at salons

there are a lot of threads on this if u do a search and check out the review center.

I'm currently using dr. brandt MDB in a Jar and i like it so far ... a lot of ppl see better results by using MDB 2x a week and glycolic 1x a week ... i just order my glycolic ... so still waiting for that to arrive.

Dr. Brandt and Epidermx are great MDB products ....

W/Epidermx a lot of the girls like to use it w/sikia cameo oil(or something like that w/it)

MDB has really helped w/my acne scars so u should try it out! ... do a search and decide for yourself though. Also ... Epidermx isn't that expensive

I have it done professionally once a month and use Epidermx once a week. Epidermx is a great at home product. I was using Philosophy's vitamin c peel and like Epidermx much better and it is cheaper.

Hey thatnks for the replys and I will do a search on it as well.

I have had it done professionally---drove me crazy but great result; and purchased at home products, including the epidermax. Now i just mix my own with c.crystals that i purchase wholesale online, and whatever cleanser i want. This way it is extremley inexpensive and i use it dailey like a reg facial scrub, but w/out every getting the scratches on my skin that reg scrubs used to leave. So everyday my skin feels glass smooth. Once in awhile i will skip a few days just to remind me how smooth my skin is after a scrub

i use a micordermabrasion scrub my derma e once a week and i noticed the difference in my skin texture immediately. being a woman of color i've always been alittle scared of scrubs because they can sometimes cause hyperpigmentation, but this has not been the case with this product. i like it alot and will continue to use it weekly to help keep my skin texture smooth and reduce the size of my pores.

I have been having it done professionally once a week again along with a peel and i'm loving the results.

I've never had it done professionally, but I do use the Mary Kay Microdermabrasion Set. I love it! I use it once a week, and my skin is soooo smooth and soft! Supposedly, as I was told, the Stila Retexturizing Scrub is similar to a microdermabrasion except gentle enough to be used more than once a week, which is something I'd love to try. All I know is my skin has been great since I started using it, although I never had skin problems before using it either!

I've been doing microdermabrasion once a week too. Microdermabrasion is pretty much just a stronger scrub. Immediately you will notice smoother, softer skin and overtime it reduces acne scars and skin imperfections, and refinishes the skin. Epidermx is the most reccomended on here;I plan on trying that soon.

littlebit ...c.crystals what are those?
Also approximate idea as to how much a professional session may cost?

Corundum Crystals. They are what is used in the microdermabrasion machines and in most of the microdermabrasion scrubs. I thinks a package of pro. sessions is around 250.00 for 4??

For anyone interested in making your own scrub:

I don't think that i am allowed to put the company that i buy them from in this post??? spam??? but if you do a search for them you will find several companies, the one i use sells them to me in smaller sizes, i get 5 lbs at a time. You can imagine how long that lasts me!!!

But because it is so much more cost effective to do it that way i can mix into my scrubs whatever ingrediants that i want. Sometimes i do a moisturizing scurb w/ essential oils and a fav moisturizer, or i may do one with benzoyl peroxide and salyclic acid; when i do those scrubs i usually scrub for several minutes. the ones i do daily are for apprx one min. I know that there has been advice saying that too much exfoliation at home is not good, but that trend seems to be changing. I am noticing more products that provide both manual(--the scrubs) and chemical(--the acids) exfoliation for the best results.

i've never had it done professionally, but i use the mary kay, my skin feels so smoothe afterwards. i heard that if you get it done too ofted it can cause more wrinkles. i learned that in school.

Just wanted to let you know... you can use the Mary Kay Microdermabrasion 2x a week if you feel you need it. Ü

I use dr. brandt MDB in a Jar too. I really like it. I also like Dermalogica daily microfoliant.

I badly wanna try microdermabrasion to get rid of my scars...but I heard that you shouldn't use it if you have active acne...is that true?

That's what I heard. But I think only if you have very bad active acne. A couple of small pimples should be fine.

If it is really bad, you should not use any microdermabrasion. If you have a few pimples then you can use it, but avoid applying it on your pimples.

I think they will still do it but just be cautious and go around certain areas if they are badly inflamed or open. Then again, I have been getting cysts on my jaw and neck area for the last couple of months from stress/hormones and he still exfoliates over this area. Cysts are so much deeper that they just have to pretty much run their course, unfortunately. So I don't know if the microderm is really helping them heal faster but it's certainly not hurtiing it either and hopefully it will help reduce some of the scarring. It has helped the scarring I had from old cystic acne on my face considerably. I'm still considering getting laser treatments for the cysts I have right now on my jaw/neck line but Robbie says it's very painful and doesn't think I could tolerate it which makes me want it even more just to prove him wrong. lol I'm so stubborn.
