I've heard that some masks can help decrease oil production for a few days after you use them. Has anyone had any success with such masks? Any product recommendations? I have very oily skin and am always fighting shine, and usually have a few blemishes to deal with as well...

Thanks!

Mask with clay definately do help if you have oily skin (like me). Lately I've been using random sample I get from work, but one girl I know swears by pure simplicity neem clay mask.Or you could even try Queen Helene (can seem harsh at times but works great during the summer). I also tried the Mario Badescu Drying Mask, which worked wonders for my face but smelled and felt like I was putting spackle on my face.

I use masks with green argil, they're perfect for oily skins they're deep cleansing!!

Queen Helene Mint Julep fan here! Although i only have combi skin but i do find it dries up my skin a bit. I always feel so clean after using it!

Thanks for the tips, I will look into some of those!

I was just thinking, hubby already makes fun of me for how much time I spend washing my face and such at night (since he brushes his teeth and that's it), he's going to really love me sitting around in a mask for 10 minutes

I recommend Acne Face Mask from SK Tiara. perfect for oily and acne prone skin. it reduces oil secretion too. at the same time, acne outbreak is controlled . Their red clay set is excellent too if you can afford the time.

You should use a mask with the active ingredient camphor in it...this you can probably find at a spa. It works really well

Good Luck

yes, another QHMJM fan here. Also, if looking for a natural remedy, try aplying egg white to your face, dry with hairdryer, let on for 10 min or so, then wash off with warm water and clean towel.

I use Queen Helene and Milk of Magnesia. Both work well for shine!

I went to a fashion show that had a afternoon and an early evening show. I asked the models how they kept their make-up looking fierce for both. They said that the makeup artist put Milk of Magnesia on everybody's face, let it dry and then put liquid and powder right on top!

I got a couple of pots of QHMJM last night, my husband is even anxious to try it since he has the same skin I do. This MoM idea is interesting, I might have to try that too.

I have studied homeopathic remedies for some time, and have discovered that there are several beneficial things for skin care in our kitchens, depending on how willing you are you may discover that they actually work.
But no matter what product you use, I have found that over cleansing the skin stimulates the sebacious glands (oil glands) and cause them to produce oil faster than anything- stay away from over drying cleansers and masks, your just asking for trouble. opt to try the oil blotting pads (hourly)to slow the production down.

Whatever, make sure to rinse thoroughly, and balance the skin after everything!!!!

Here are some recipes (mix to a pastey consistency, you may need to add a few drops of water)

For oily skin

  • 1/4c.powdered milk+ few drops water (acidic- acts as an exfoliant) good for balancing the PH, (toner)
  • wheat germ, soy milk,1tsp. corn starch, and 1/2 tsp. honey
  • mix 1 egg, and 1oz. lemon, apply for 10 min. rinse, tone w/milk pdr.
  • oatmeal, water, honey, and orangejuice, apply for 10 min.
this one gives a slight tan effect-exfoliate first with the milk to reduce "tan lines"
  • cinnamon/or nutmeg (1/2 tsp.)
  • cornstarch (1/8c.)
  • tumeric powder (1 tsp. or more deepending how "tan" you like)
you can also add to this formula:
  • 30 mil. natural henna (liquid)(this really gives the effect of the tan)
have fun;Kristyn

I just use milk of magnesia. Apply it with a cotton ball. Magnesium stops oil, and it's really soothing, and cheapie!!

The Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask, as well as MoM are good ones!

You may also want to look into the Aztec Secret Healing Clay. It's betonite clay, and it's wonderful because you can mix it with whatever you want/need. You can use water, ACV, milk, even honey!! I use it occasionally, but I know many people use it on a weekly basis and swear by it. I got mine from The Vitamin Shoppe.

hi ,

havent heard of any product as such but there are come home herbal remedies which have helped me for my oily skin.. I make a mud pack consisiting of fullers earth and honey and apply it on my face.. Leave it on till it dries and then gently wash it off.

The honey is an excellent toner for the skin and the fullers earth is a drying face pack.. Use it once or twice a week and see the results.. You can also make a pack of the fullers earth on hair too as it good for oily hair too.
