Hi all!

I'm new here... but I love Mary Kay products SO MUCH... I am now a consultant. I saw a lot of great reviews on MK product and wanted to start a thread. If anyone has any questions about Mary Kay Cosmetics, I would love to try to help answer them! I would love to know more of your opinions about Mary Kay products as well!

The skin care is my favorite! ...and the makeup is good too... I am a former MAC user

Thanks!!

Mandihttp://www.marykay.com/mandi.jackson

Mandi, welcome to MuT! I used to sell MK, and my consultant is one of my best friends (can we say 50% discount?!). While I still use the skin care products, I don't really use the makeup anymore. I quit using the powders, foundations and concealers because I was tired of trying to find the right colors all the time. Everything else is pretty good. I'm actually in the process of writing them a letter about their products and how they can better improve on quite a few items. Take care, and good luck in MK as well as here at MuT!!!

Hi there! Thanks for the welcome! Yes, the 50% discount was definately an incentive to getting me to be a consultant!! You should definately send them your letter, they are pretty good about listening to customers opinions. You might consider giving the loose powder another try, they just recently reformulated and the product is significantly improved. As far as the foundations... I love those!... they work for me. I had a hard time finding my color with other brands, but just seemed to click with MK. I use the Full Coverage foundation along with the Dual Coverage pressed powder foundation. I am a former MAC user... used Studio Fix. I found that the MK Dual Coverage powder foundation was as good (if not better) than the MAC Studio Fix but for half the cost. Not to mention I get a 50% discount on top of that!

Let me know how they respond to your letter!!

I love the most recent version of the Timewise cleanser and a few years back I got great results from the ani aging serum and day cream duo- but, no consultants in my new neighborhood that I know of so I haven't been using any MK lately:icon_sad: :icon_sad: oh well....I had considered becoming a consultant myself but I hate sales and have had enough of making a living that way, discount or no discount!

Jen, I'm sure either Mandi could be your consultant or I can refer you to mine. Mine has a lot of out-of-state customers, and she's ALWAYS happy to have a new one... Talk to Mandi though, I'm sure she'd LOVE to have an MuT gal as a customer :flowers:

hello everybody,

I also use Mary Kay products and sell them too as a consultant, but I saw in U.S. it is possible to buy all the products on-line which can be bad for businiss for all other consultants as the customers can get MK on-line.In my country it is not allwed to sell MK on-line ,you can only get them throught the consultant. All products are great, also make-up eye shadows are really good quality,My favourite is eye mask and gel, little blue eye gel,I keep in in fridge it works better, and TW products.BYE:icon_conf

Products are only supposed to be purchased via consultants here in the US too. MK is supposedly filing charges against people (affiliated or not affiliated ~ even consultants) who sell MK products via online auctions and whatnot. The only legal way to sell MK is through a personal online website from MK (www.marykay.com/consultant's name) or personally.

Hi,

I saw many MK products selling on ebay.I dont think it is allowed,right?:eusa_snooty:

No, it's not allowed. It's not supposed to be sold on eBay, Yahoo! Auctions, iOffer, or any sites aside from the Mary Kay website. As I previously mentioned, MK is supposed to be filing charges against ANYONE who sells it without being a consultant, or even consultants who are selling it online without the MK website.

I am a former MK user, welcome aboard! I still use the nail polishes. One of my cousins and Aunt sell MK, one cousin and great aunt sell Avon and my mother, one aunt and myself sell Arbonne. We all buy from each other. It is kind of cool. Being in this circle we have all learned alot about each others companies and have our favorites in each one. I believe my cousins said they have to do a quota with MK and Avon to recieve their % off at 50% (is that right?) I think the reason I remember that is because we get 35% but if we buy or sell a certain amount(which I believed matched your quoto) it came out to 55% off. If it wasn't for that I would had loved to have an account to get a discount. (We don't share discounts, their choice.) Also someone mentioned reformulations. Can anyone tell me in the last year if they reformulated the lipsticks? They have my favorite plum shade and over a year agao they reformulated and I was allergic to the changes. My lip swelled up over an inch thick and looked as if it was going to explode! I have been keeping tabs, scared to try again, but want my favorite shade back ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I also loved the masque but could never use the skin care for the heaviness and too many petro chemicals for my sensitive skin. Also do they have any new perfumes out? Thanks to anyone who answers my million questions!

With MK, there isn't necessarily a quota. However, you do need to have at least a $600 retail order within the quarter. After about one or two quarters without meeting the minimum I believe you're automatically dropped as a consultant. Something like that. With Avon, the only sure fire way to make 50% is by having a total order over $1500... Other than that, it's only like a 20% discount if you even get one. New reps get 50% on their first four campaigns no matter the order amount.

I know MK reformulated their TimeWise line because now you can purchase the cleanser & moisturizer for either normal to dry skin, or normal to oily skin. I believe the lipsticks were reformulated, because there are lots of new colors... Most of the old colors were dropped... They also come in a new case. Oh, and they also reformulated the Day & Night Solutions, as well as there's now Age-Fighting Eye Cream & TimeWise Firming Eye Cream instead of the Triple Action Eye Enhancer, and the other eye creams they used to have.

The perfumes seem to be the same: Angelfire, Acapella, Journey, Elige, Mary Kay Tribute, Velocity for Her, and Belara. They also have the fragrance mists from the Private Spa Collection: Embrace Happiness, Embrace Dreams, Embrace Romance (NEW), and Embrace Harmony. They got rid of the "Today" scent.

You could always ask for samples of the skin care products and lipsticks to see if you still have an allergic reaction. The samples are a pretty good size. Something my consultant does for me is takes a fresh bottle of whatever I want to try, and makes me samples with that because I get more and it'll last a little longer. Otherwise, you're stuck with the one-time use sample that doesn't really let you know a lot about the product. I LOVE the new Microdermabrasion!!! My skin feels great after it!!! Anyway, I hope that helps!

You are a doll! Thank you!

I will have to do the sample thing. I do not care what line I have tried, nothing compares to that plum!

I am hooked on our thermal fusion because I had supper large pores so I will never switch to any othe microdermabrasion, but thats for the tip!

See, I wish MK had a wholesale type membership. I sure could use it. All I have to do with arbonne is place a $250 order, I get 35% off plus $100 in product of my choice for $20. Any other orders I place I get 35% and no monthly minimums, which has saved me a million times. Maybe I will email MK suggesting a wholesale account ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I see there are alot of other perfumes I have not yet tried. Guess I better get on the stick and call my MK cuz ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks again!

You're more than welcome for the tips! FYI, anytime a MK consultant places an order, she receives 50%. That's how they make the money. It's always 50% for them... Wholesale, never retail prices are paid. It's just that there's the quarterly amount that needs to be placed. Mind you, that's a quarterly order total of $600 retail, which is only $300 wholesale to the consultant.

What shade of lipstick is it? I know I had a customer when I sold MK that only wore Strike-A-Pose Rose. I have quite a few lip colors by MK, but I don't know if I have a fave. I prefer lip glosses over lipsticks, but I love to use a l/g over a l/s to create new colors!!! Let me know how everything works out for you!!!

I sure will! I believe the name of it was just plum back then, it has a hint of purple to it and was burgundish. I LOVED IT. It was the first lipstick and only lipstick I wore until the fat lip ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hi,

I really miss Triple action enhancer MK eye cream.I still got one left, but they dont make it anymore. It made my eyes so bright.Beautiful...

those are both great products! If you have a consultant... ask her to try a sample of the Microdermabrasion. This is my FAVORITE MK product. Talk about immediate results! If you don't have a consultant, let me know and I'll send you a sample of one!

Anne,

I would love to get you set up with a wholesale account. What you need to do to retain your 50% discount is just order $200 in wholesale... that gets you your discount that month and the 2 following months. Then you the same thing again to get the discount the following 3 months. Let me know if you're interested and I'll help you out.
