Ok, so here's the story. I usually use the blue gel facial cleanser from Nivea, but for the last 2 months I've not been able to find it anywhere in town. So today, I am finally *completely* out, so I had to break down and try something else. I've used Olay, Clean and Clear and a few other things before, but wanted to try something different.

L'Oreal makeup is my favorite DS brand, but I've never tried their skincare, so I thought what the heck? I picked up Visibly Clean Foaming Cream Scrub Cleanser, and used it when I got home. It's a creamy cleanser with that realy finely milled gritty exfoliating stuff in it. I've used similar products many times with no problem. I know to be gentle! (By the way, it doesn't foam AT ALL, so the name is a bit deceiving.)

About 10 minutes after using this and moisturizing, I sit down to put my makeup on. As I'm brushing on my loose powder foundation I notice a very fine streak of blood across my face. I KNEW it couldn't be from my brush, since I just washed them last night. I've had no blemishes at all recently, so I knew it hadn't been picked up from that. I wiped it off and continued, not thinking much of it, then a blood streak again! I freaked out and got about 3 inches from the mirror and I could see little pinhole sized drops of blood coming from my PORES! It was as if the abrasives in the cleanser caused little tears on my skin. I was totally freaked out.

I went back in and cleaned my face again with just some gentle baby soap to take off the makeup I'd already put on and put on some cream. I can't believe that it made my face BLEED! When I tell you I was rubbing gently with the cleanser, I really was. I know that those 'sandy' feeling products can be rough, and I don't have sensitive skin.

Needless to say, this is going back to WalMart first thing tomorrow! I'm so frustrated. I guess I will go back to either an Olay product, or something else that is more gentle. I have a sample sized tube of Skin Effects that has the same texture as the L'Oreal, that I've used probably 5 times and never had that happen before. Ugh!

Steer clear of this stuff!

Thanks for the warning! Do you normally have sensitive skin? I tend to stick to Equate products by Walmart, believe it or not, and I've no problems whatsoever, but I don't have sensitive skin.

No, that's the strangest thing. I don't have sensitive skin at all. In fact, I don't recall ever having any kind of adverse reaction to any kind of makeup or skincare product before. I don't even get breakouts, except for the rogue zit that comes along with my monthly visitor LOL

I'm definitely taking it back though. I may just give the Equate a shot!

Ouch! Sorry to hear about that! If that ever happened to me with any product, I would have freaked out too!

Ya, walmart takes back open stuff!

I have tried some Loreal skincare stuff years ago and HATED it. It totally messed up my face....I was breaking out everywhere and it was just horrible....and it took months to heal!

I'm sorry that happend to you..I actually haven't tried any skincare products by L'Oreal, and I probably won't now. Olay is a good brand. Give their Clarifying Foaming Cleanser a try!

Walmart takes back anything with a receipt. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope things get back to normal pronto for you. I have never tried any Loreal skin care products and after your post I don't think I will be.

Dang! I am not sure that I wouldn't have that checked out by a dermatologist ..even if it was the product...

eww that's awful, glad it wasn't anything too serious. i personally love st. ives apricot radiance moisture creme cleanser. it's oil free, deep cleanses w/o over drying my skin. and it has these microbeads in it that exfoliate the skin. but gently. it's for normal to dry skin but they have it in different forms too. and it's not expensive at all.

I hate L'oreal!

I bought their 3 step pure zone range a few years ago when it first came out, I swear it was the worst thing I have ever used! The cleanser made my skin so sore and inflamed, the toner added to this big time, then the moisturiser was rubbish and made my face hurt and sting so much, there seemed to be so much colour and fragrance in it, I really don't see how it could be good for anyones skin!

I think you shoudl take it back without a doubt, and if they refuse, call or write to the headquarters of L'oreal, and they'll definatly give you back the money...

Thanks for the posts gals. WalMart gave me no trouble at all returning it. I got some Olay 2 in 1 cleanser and toner that is a gel formula. I am really liking it.

My skin is back to normal now, I can't tell where anything ever happened, but I certainly won't be buying L'Oreal skincare again!
