i got a phone call from a laser treatment center that i visited a few years ago. when i went originally they told me that there wasn't a lot they could do for me because of my skintone. well, it seems that technology has finally created a laser that works well on darker skin tones and they've offered me an amazing deal to remove the hair from my lip and chin area. they offered 7 treatments (one treatment every seven weeks) and two years maintenance for about $750. i think the price is great, but i still have some reservations. has anyone gotten laser treatments, and what was the experience like for you? all responses are greatly appreciated!

I got yesterday... it hurts like hell!!! my face is a Labster skin!!

but hey, i am not complaining.. i know my skin will be nice!!

i saw your before and after pics on an earlier post. it looks like you're having a lot of success with your treatments! can you post more pics?

I had laser treatment for facial hair some years back. i got a good result. it didnt hurt at all in the first 3 sittings, but it did slightly in the 4th and 5th. but the pain didnt last long. it vanished in an hour or so. its more like a pinching sensation.

so no worries, hopefully it'll work out well. Goodluck.

thanks for the heads up and advice, vic. btw welcome to mut! so happy you're jumping right in!

Im also going through laser hair treatments (and glycolic peels) hoping by the end of the treatment I will have photos to post. One my first two laser - it wasnt too bad but then they did turn down the strength of the laser. On my last one they turned it up a bit and it was more "uncomfortable" - my chin was a little bit sore but no crusting. I did get a white spot the next day and i could see i was slightly swollen (not that anyone else noticed) but Ive got 3 more to go - i will say that I have already noticed a slight reduction to the hairs in my cheek area and I think to the chin but I wont know until a couple of weeks as thats when I notice it more. so if you are happy with what they have to say go for it - I assume theyve done the test patch to see how your skin will react?

I am going through laser hair removal now. I have kept a journal with pictures before and after every treatment at Laser Hair Removal Before & After Pictures - Bikini Area, Underarm, Upper Lip & Toes

Just a few tips before you plunk down a huge amount of money:

Laser can be very expensive and it doesn't work for everyone. Some people can never achieve results with laser for uncertain reasons, maybe it is hormonal or maybe the hair is too deep.

Laser can be very difficult for people with dark skin or people with light hair. One of the best lasers for dark skin is Candela YAG

Laser is most effective on light skin and dark hair people. Best laser - Candela Gentlelase

Laser is most effective (for women) in the bikini area and underarm area. - I don't know about men.

Facial laser hair removal does not have very good results with women - this is because most facial hair is lighter and the hairs are skinny compared to underarm and bikini area.

Before signing up for laser hair removal go to at least three consultations. Make sure they have the best laser for your skin type. Make sure the tech is experienced with your skin type.

Research, Research Research

It may sound like I am telling you not to get laser hair removal, but that isn't the case, I just want people to be more educated about such a delicate procedure.
