I went to a dermatologist to remove the hair from under my arms bc I was working for him at the time!!

He had a really great thing going where he wouldn't charge any staff for treatments or appointments etc. So I managed to get my underarm hair lasered for free!

Katie - I am going out on a limb here and say it depends on the person doing the laser removal (i.e. reputation and experience) and the equipment they use. Probably more often than not, the surgeon will even charge more than a dermatologist would. If it were me, I would check around on prices and go by referrals. I don't see why a dermatologist would do any less of a job than a plastic surgeon. HTH

I get mine done at a plastic surgeon's office. It's actually not the surgeon who does it (it's the nurses). I think both a plastic surgeon and a dermatologist have the education and skill required to perform laser hair removal. The only reason I voted for plastic surgeon is because in many cases plastic surgeon's offices have been working with lasers longer than dermatologists. Plus, in the off-chance that something were to go wrong, I know the plastic surgeon office has an anaesthesiologist on staff so if you were in pain it could be numbed quickly. My dermatologist office does not have an anaesthesiologist on staff.

you can find aetheticians who are qualifoed in these feildsand are traine on the machines who can do as good a job or better than a plastic surgeon... you have to shop around first. and it all depends on the person

I think I've finally located someone. The individual is a Para Medical Aesthetician. She's dual board licensed, and works for a respected, highly skilled plastic surgeon. I'm going to make an appointment for an initial consultation after first scheduling an appointment with both my hairstylist and brow shaping specialist.

Well, I'm off to fold our new spa towels. :icon_love Have a great day!
