I feel that since I have joined MUT I have learned such good advice...so I just wanted to return the favor and share a trick that I use....its nothing special...kinda simple...but it works for me...

The way that I keep my lips soft and my lipstick smooth is once or twice a week, I take a soft toothbrush (not the one I use on my teeth) and I GENTLY brush my lips for about 30-60 seconds. It removes all of the dead skin and keeps them soft and smooth...basically it exfoliates my lips...I apply a balm either Bath and Body works lip butter or burts bees lip balm....and go to bed...its quick, simple, and cheap ($1 for a soft toothbrush from discount store)...

(***:eusa_naughty: If you use a medium or hard toothbrush or you apply too much pressure you can actually bruise your lip...the key is to use light circular motions...you can tell the difference instantly***)

It always works for me....hope it works for you! If you try it, let me know what you think.

Thanks for the advice, will have to get a soft brithle brush. I always applying Vaseline lip therapy so hopefully this will give me better results.

i keep asking for samples of the smashbox lip exfoliator stuff at nordstroms. it works really well.

or else out of warning: DO NOT use an electric tooth brush. trust me, i learned that the hard way.

it made my lips raw and a part of them were bleeding.

i have no idea what i was thinking when i was doing it at the moment.

Another way to keeps your lips nice and soft is to drink plenty of water as dehydration can make your lips dry also. Some balms make my lips even drier so i have to be careful what i use.I like Loccitaine's shea butter lip balm.

thx ...some1 told me this ... but i don't know y i never tried it ....

Interesting advice! I'll have to try it next time I get really chapped.

My normal thing to do when I have really super chapped lips is to first slather on a bunch of Blistex Lip Ointment (the stuff that comes in a white tube), then either use the Burt's Bees original lip balm over it or the Blistex Medicated Lip Balm (the one that comes in a blue chapstick tube). I keep reapplying it in this order a few times a day until it's healed. Basically, the lip ointment goes on first to penetrate, then the lip balm seals it in. It works everytime!
