it sure was a hassle!!! I kind of figured they'd ask a million questions as to why I wanted to cancel, but geez!! Not only did she seem so terribly sad and ask a million questions, she made me take her through my whole new routine that I've replaced ProActiv with, which includes the aspirin mask and apple cider vinegar. I had no idea it was going to take that long to cancel! I eventually had to tell her, "Look, it just didn't work like it should. It's way too expensive to not do its job." That shut her up. hehe Now I'm ProActiv free!! YAY!! :icon_lol::icon_lol:

yay! It worked for me for a little while, like maybe 8 mos...then it didn't seem to help anymore, so I cancelled mine.

I think it does work for some people but not everyone... Have you ever tried Differin Gel? It is a Rx that I was given by my dermatologist, but I can buy it from an online pharmacy from Canada for about $30 a tube (here it is $120!!)...

Let me know if you want to try it, I can give you the link... I have bought 4 tubes from them and they are great!

Geez, what a pain in the hiney. Really, why should you have to justify not wanting to spend your $ on a product you are not happy with?

Nice job with putting it to her straight. lol!

yeah, it works for awhile then stops. i tired it again a few months ago, but didn't work still.

canceling things like Proactiv is such a pain! like my mom was trying to transfer my gym membership, and she had to go in there to do it. she couldn't do it over the phone or anything.

Hey leila...i'm seeing my doc soon and i'm going to tell him bout Differin Gel so i can get a prescription...can you give me the link to that online pharmacy? :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> thanks!

Aw, that happened with me too. It worked for something like 3 months, then made my skin horribly flaky and red and just scaly. And i broke out on TOP of that dry mess. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I had my mom cancel it for me, she is much more direct than myself, so she probably scared the customer service person. :icon_lol: I agree, you shouldn't have to justify your reasons for stopping shipments for anything. I just saw their new commercial with Jessica Simpson, and her fresh shiny face makes me sad that it didn't work out for me. I did read on another site that she uses Dr. Hauschka skincare, so I am not sold on her using proactiv.

ETA: I just remembered that John Mayer uses proactiv...on one of his crazy home videos on his website, he looks into his toiletry bag with the camera and I can see the ugly green and white packaged bottle.

It has worked for me so far, I am happy with the product. I just had a few pimples and it's true that it makes your sking dry but I used the moistourizer that comes with it. I only used it once a day before going to bed. I didnt get any subscription, my husband got it for me at the mall but they said I had 60 days to try it even if I had finished it. I dont think I will do that though, it would be unfair knowing that Im finishing the product and It's working for me.

Wow, they should work on their customer service. It wasn't quite that bad when I canceled mine. They were pretty nice to me. But they did cop a really "sad" attitude, like you mentioned! LOL! I told them I liked the product (I did) but I couldn't afford it (not exactly true but I found I could get better deals on eBay).

Actually, I've been alternating between an aspirin mask, an egg white and lemon mask, and using baking soda to exfoliate and apple cider vinegar to tone. All of these items are CHEAP, and they're working better than any other skin products I've tried. I've only been doing this about a month, so I'll know if it really works in a little while. So far though, it works a heck of a lot better than ProActiv ever did. I'll let you know, Leila, if this doesn't work out for me. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

And yes, it's unfortunate that some companies make it so difficult to cancel their services and products. I guess they figure if it's really hard to cancel, you'll just say, "Screw it!" and stay with them. Nope, not me. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Good for you haha.

I tried Proactiv before but only a month, but my skin didn't like it, I guess.

The next month, they again sent me the new package of proactiv again :icon_eek: . I was surprised because I didn't make another ordered for proactiv after my first purchase a month before. I'm glad it was e-collect type of payment, so I can refuse to pay the package if I didn't order the products. :icon_mad:

i thought i was the only anti-proactiv out there, judging from the informercials everyone else seems to love it haha. MACGODDESS, could u please post the link for the differin gel? a friend of mine uses it and she said it was great. i'm having issues with my insurance right now so, i can't visit my derm anymore but, do you have to have a perscription to order differin from the site?

My 18 yr old loves the stuff but I wanted it off my credit card cause they sell it at a mall not far from me. They still sent it with a bill.:icon_surp

Proactiv didn't work for me at all :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I can't believe they kept you on the phone that long! They shouldn't even have to ask why. You're going to cancel anyway, lol.

Are there recipes somewhere for the different masks you've been using?

I can't stand when I cancel subscriptions for goods or services and they ask me all those questions. Sometimes I ponder the insane things I could say....

Amen Naturally!

Leila, I would love to have the site address. I have had adult acne for 5 years and it sucks. Grace girl, I am also a former Proactiv person and yes, they do want to know your whole routine. They just want to modify your routine, using their products. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I am dying to dry differin.

old thread..but a new thread linked to this one :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

ahhh when you order proactic..you automatically get billed every month. unless you opt to get it ever 2 months..every 3 months....

I tried it for 1 month as well and it sucked. To cancel my subscription all I had to do was send back the new kit and a letter stating why I wanted *out*. That's all it took for me. Then again, that was many years ago....

i had the exact same problem! i hate how on the infomercial (which is never true anyways) they say cancellation is easy and hassle-free. Took me a million years to cancel . i almost wanted to say .. okie just charge me for another month .. and i'll deal w/cancellation next month ....
