Iron Supplements

I read somewhere that iron supplements can get rid of even the hereditary dark circles! Is that true?? I'm not so sure my dark circles are hereditary anymore... neither my mom or dad have them (well my dad has eye-bags but I assume that comes with aging, and my mom only has them now but they are very light because she doesn't get enough sleep... and my dark circles are way darker than hers!) so is it possible for me to still have them? My brothers don't have them... just me

i don't know anything about iron supplements and its benefits besides the obvious.

but since we're on the topic, is there an iron supplement brand that anyone can recommend for me? apparently my iron levels is way below normal.

i've never heard that iron was good for undereye circles ...

pinkbundles -- i want to know to ...my levels are way below normal for iron, i bruise like a banana and ... i've been told that's cuz i don't have enuf iron and i have ghost white skin (my legs anyways .. since they've never seen the light of day LoL)

Never heard of Iron supplement for dark circles,but I have low iron and I use Fefol capsules since they r folic acid and Iron in one pill.

Hmmm. I don't know. That would imply that dark circles are at least partially caused by an iron deficiency... I used to be EXTREMELY anemic and I had NO dark circles. So I don't know if there's a link, for me at least.

I use to take vitamins that had all the ones you need in them. I don't now because they didn't do anything, I jsut make sure I have fruit everyday

Yes, dark circles can be caused by anemia. I take prescription ferrous sulfate(iron), because of heavy monthly cyles that deplete my iron. My doctor said that a normal hemoglobin level is 10 and mine varies between 3-6. That's why I must take supplements. Once the iron built up in my system, my undereye circles lessened.

i really think it depends on the person. i was anemic, too, and the iron didn't do anything for my horrible eyes.
