Any decent moisturizers out there that would be good for my skin, I used to be a combo to oily but I think it could be the weather but yesterday I noticed horrible dry flakey patches on my face! on my forehead, nose cheeks and chin, more on my nose though and you could still see it through my MU.

I usually use Clinique in control but I think my face could do with some moisture, I didnt want anything too expensive as I dont know what my skin type is anymore dry or oily.

Has anyone tried the Clinique superdefense triple action moisturizer for normal to oily skin, I might give it a go if its any good

well,a lot of people's skin gets super dry in the winter regardless of their normal skin type. You should get two moisturisers-one regular and one for winter.

Hi,

As mentioned in sheil2009's post, you should probably have two moisturizers. I do this myself. In the warmer months, I will use a moisturizer (Dermalogica's Active Moist) which is less dense than my winter moisturizer (Repechage's T-Zone Balance).

Regarding Clinique's SuperDefense Triple Action Moisturizer, here are a few threads:

Hope this helps.

i have oily skin, and i have used vaseline at night.. a really thin layer, so its not greasy.. the past 2 nights, and my face is considerably softer.

I've found putting an oil underneath a moisturizer cream does wonders for moisturizing dry skin and keep the flakies away.

I have dry and oily skin...I've been using a Dove facial moisturizer that is working very well!

for a product that's not too expensive, but moisturizes without being oily and has an spf i like aveeno skin bright moisturizer. about $14 at cvs or riteaid.

I have combo sensitive skin. Slightly oily tzone, normal to dry cheeks. In winter, my skin becomes quite dry. I really like RoC Enydrial Extra-Emollient Cream for the face, really moisturizing. Also exfoliating once a week, helps keep the dry patches at bay. A really gentle exfoliator is RoC Gommage Douceur. It works great at getting rid of dead skin cells but is also really gentle on the face.

Your skin sounds very similier to mine, I might give the products a try when Im in town :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Thanks.

I've bought some of the Clinique moisturizer, Its working fine! Its based on oily skin to very oily, Unlike the sites description of normal to oily, But My dry patches are clearing now, The moistirizer drys quicker than others I've tried but its nice and the pot is really packed full so it should last a long time.

Thanks for everyones advice and help

hey! have normal to combo skin n tends to get flaky in winters. i use neutrogena combination skin moisturizer n put it in while my skin is still moist frm washing my face. then i put my sunscreen. u could also try switching to a heavier cold cream. hmmm check out the vaseline thread. it's very popular here.

The thing about oily/combo skin and winter is that if you use your regular moisturizer, which is most likely oil-free, your skin will get really dry. At least that's what I've found. I use DDF-Doctor's Dermatologic Formula Matte Finish Photo-Age Protection SPF 30 which may or may not be oil-free, but I adore it. I haven't bothered to check because it actually hasn't been cold here at all. For a non-matte formulation, try DDF-Doctor's Dermatologic Formula Moisturizing Photo-Age Sunscreen SPF 30.
