I pluck my eyebrows for about 9 years now. I think, it's getting worse and worse with everytime I intend to pluck some more; I literally ALWAYS overpluck them.

I've got an eyebrow shape at the moment that is really difficult to handle; I have lots to pluck above the natural line and also beneath..I also pluck in the beginning of the eyebrow and at the end - horrible! But people always tend to compliment my brows...but I don't like them, I think they're too thin and don't suit my face.

What should I do to keep my brows naturally beautiful and yet done perfectly? I haven't touched my tweezers for about 4 days now so I am waiting for my brows to achieve it's natural position again.

I am so very open for some tips from you

let it grow? do not plug and reshape it. in the mean time, shape it with pencil and powder ( matte)

I read an article about brow shape a while back. The "in" thing seems to be a gentle arch that rises at the iris. My brows are done this way (<<< check out my avatar). The natural, gentle arch seems to be very flattering on a variety of faces as well.

I did the same thing you described. I would pluck everywhere. I learned (from an article) that you are not suppose to ever pluck above the brow. The shape should be formed by plucking under the brow.

To fix my mess, I also stopped all plucking. I let my brows grow back in. It was NOT a good look, but you gotta do what ya gotta do.

When my brows had grown out I began plucking again. I found a brow shape I liked from a magazine. I used it as a guide. Looking at the picture as I worked made it so much easier. I felt like I wasn't just "going in blind"; I had a "plan".

I plucked ONLY the bottom to form the gentle arch you see in my picture. Once I had the shape I inspected them daily. I have added maintenance tweezing to my daily routine. I don't have that many hairs to tweeze anymore. The more you tweeze the less they come back. That's true for me anyway. I don't pluck anything within or above the brow. I don't have very long brows so I don't need trimming. I am very happy with my brow shape now!

I hope some of this helps you out.

you really should get them done at a salon and then maintain them. I have been pluscking my eyebrows for TEN years and now is that i finally found the right shape. lol

The thing about doing your own brows is it's hard to know when to stop. My worst enemy was a magnifying mirror! I just kept tweezing and tweezing. Finally I gre them out for over a month, I looked awful!!! I had them professionally shaped and now I tweeze only the little strays. I never touch the front of my brows! I tweeze between them, under the arch...that's it. I wouldn't attempt cutting your brows yourself either.....mine never came back the same.

i wish i knew that no plucking from the top rule long ago. sigh mine will never come back to me.

Sadly, I'm one of the unfortunate people who actually NEEDS to trim their eyebrows every now and then. My eyebrows are thinner in places, and some longer, thicker strands just seem to stick outwards, and look ridiculously dark when I use eyebrow gel or pencil! However, I completely agree with you about the "never looking the same" part. Trimming should be done with extreme care and caution, and only if you're absolutely CERTAIN you need it!

thank you very much for these tips! I also didn't know that there is a "rule" that the brows above aren't meant to be plucked...

I will surely obey this now

I am also keeping myself away from tweezers and my brows are already growing in again.

What about those hair at the beginning of the eyebrow that stand straight up? should I trim them when they grow or...? thank you very much.

I have a few of those that "stand up" at the beginning of my brows. I do pluck them out if they are away from the full brow area. I don't have many of them anymore. If you keep plucking them out they will finally stop coming back.
Make sure the "stand up" hairs you are plucking are kinda away from your full brow. If they are really close to the full brow let them grow out. When they finally get long enough use gel to lay them down into the rest of the brow. They will eventually stay down and you will have more brow to comb!

grow out your brows until the point where you cant handle it. go to a really good eyebrow specialist (not just any waxer) get a good shape and at the most you will only need to pluc strays as they come up.

About those little hairs at the front of the brow that grow upwards rather then laying flat against the body of the brow, I say leave them. I've seen so many models in magazines that have those, and they are very young, sexy, slightly feral looking. Beautiful. Gives me brow envy instantly, since my own are pale, delicate, and don't come in close enough to my nose, really. I live for brow pencil, powder, gel, pomade, waterproof corrector...

Treasure what you have!

Grow them out; do not touch them, no matter how tempting it may be. To help the growth process get Talika Lipocils, it really works on helping brows grow back.

I think the perfect shape for beautiful feminine and complimentory eyebrows is full at the inside and gradually getting thinner outwards, in a beautiful arch.

A tip I can give is, only pluck BELOW your eyebrow, otherwise you lose your beautiful natural shape and it distorts your face.

Is that a picture of Monica Bellucci in Malèna btw? I LOVE Bellucci and the movie Malèna!

It took me FOREVER to get my brows where I finally love them. However, from plucking above on my right brow, I have hair there that doesn't grow anymore. I have to fill them in. I use Benefit Browzings (a lifesaver for me), the wax for holding them in place and then I fill in where needed with the powder. So if you are plucking above, I definitely don't recommend it.

Don't touch your tweezers for a while, in the meantime you can just tame them with a brow gel or something. I recommend going to a professional at least once, and pluck the strays as they grow in. I read this tip in a magazine about where your eyebrows should start and stop: get a pencil and line it straight up with the side of your nose. The start of your eyebrows should be in line with the pencil. Then line the pencil from the side of your nose diagonally to the far corner of your eye (on the same side of your face) and your eyebrows should end in line with the pencil. Also I agree with the previous posts, you should try to pluck above your eyebrows at a minimum, it keeps a more natural shape. Hope this helps!

I only get my brows done every 4-6 mnths. I just tidy up & maintain the shape after having them done professionally. I think it is OK to pluck above your eyebrows just not too much. It helps to use some hair gel & an old toothbrush to keep the looking good and well groomed esp if you have 1 or two unruly ones.
