Alrighty girls. I've read through the reviews and such but i was wanting your personal opinion and suggestions for a cleanser. I have very oily skin and am very acne prone. There is rarely a time when i don't have a blemish. I try to drink a lot of water and it's way better than it used to be. I'm oily all over my face. I also change my pillowcase like every 2-3 nights. I wash my face every morning and every night. I'm really looking for a great cleanser that will help my acne but not dry out my face and is fragrance free. I am currently using Clinique skin care (i know everyone has mixed reviews on 3-step) but I started using it and i have upgraded to the men's skin care over time, hoping it would help. I still get the breakouts and i just wish i could actually have a blemish-free face and find a cleanser that would help clear it up. if you have some suggestions i would REALLY appreciate it!!

p.s. (any price)

Ok, here is what I do and it helps me a lot...

Wash my face 2x a day with a Glycolic Acid Cleanser, use Cetaphil spf 15 moisturizer (WILL NOT clog the pores), every other night put on Differin Gel (Rx helps with acne, PM me if you want the link to a Canada Online drugstore, I was Rx this, but you don't need a Rx to get it from them and it is only $30 a tube), and every other night use ROC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle night cream (it is a retinol product so it will help speed up your skin's turnover and help fight acne AND wrinkles)

Also try blotting papers to take care of oil during the day and make sure to use a mattifier and an oil free foundation if you wear it...

OH! And try using Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask every 3-4 days. This REALLY does help clean up your skin and calm down oil production.

I use MD Forte (are they sister companies?) as my cleanser system and I love them... And personally I can't stand Clinique. All of their products broke me out, and when I asked them point blank if they are non-comedogenic/non-acnegenic (meaning they won't block the pores and cause breakouts) they were NOT able to tell me that they weren't. They kept saying that they were hypoallergenic which isn't even close to being the same thing...

Since then, no Clinique for me, except a couple GWP lipsticks that my mom gave me. I swear by my little system, it works great for me...

I also very oily skin, prone to breakouts. (My dermatologist said it was actually clogged pores caused by my excessively oily skin, and I didn't have much "true" acne which requires the presence of a certain bacteria.) Honestly I would recommend seeing a dermatologist -- he can give you prescription creams that work better than anything you can find in the drugstore! When I use only cleansers and a 2% salicylic acid treatment (Stridex Maximum Strength) which is supposed to be good for acne, my face is COVERED with clogged pores -- I will get clusters of 10-20 little pimples on my forehead that were impossible to hide and looked like a rash, plus random pimples all over my cheeks and chin... definitely not a pretty sight!

I used to go to a dermatologist, and while I still had pretty oily skin with the prescriptions, I had almost NO pimples -- often none, and never more than one or two at once. After some experimenting with different medications, this was the treatment that worked the best for me:

Morning:

Wash face with Dove or Cetaphil soap

Clindagel (Rx)

Evening:

Cleanse and exfoliate with Buf Puf sponge and Cetaphil or Dove soap

Clindagel (Rx)

Tazorac Cream (Rx -- this is what made all the difference for me!)

I quit using prescriptions a while back thinking I could save money and that surely I had grown out of my acne since I was in my mid-20's :icon_roll yeah right.... Right now, the best drugstore product I've tried BY FAR is Neutrogenia's On-The-Spot treatment. It is 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, which is just as effective as all the other brands' 10% creams, but it does not dry out your skin like the 10%! Now I still usually have one or two small pimples (so it's not quite as good as the Rx but still not bad!), but I can normally hide them with mu and you'd never know ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> So this my current routine:

Morning:

Wash face with Dove or Cetaphil soap

Stridex Maximum Strength (I really don't know if this helps.... but it does always cleanse away the last bit of mu my cleansers leave behind so I keep using it!)

Evening:

Wash and exfoliate with Buf Puf and Dove or Cetaphil

Stridex Maximum Strength

Neutrogenia On-The-Spot (all over my acne-prone areas as a preventative measure. I skip my nose since strangely that is my least oily skin!)

(I have experienced with some different cleansers but never noticed a difference between any of them, so I just stick to my dermatologist recommended Dove and Cetaphil!)

I also use a new washcloth each time I wash my face, and keep a clean towel around that I use only on my freshly-washed face. I also started using the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask a few weeks ago, but really haven't noticed much of a difference yet, in either oil production or acne. I think it slows down the oil production for a few hours after I use it but I certainly haven't noticed a difference on the day after or anything... I have also heard clay masks are good for slowing oil production, so I might look into those someday.

For mu and shine control, I have discovered that CoverGirl Professional Loose Powder actually keeps my face matte longer than any drugstore or department store powder I've tried! But it's still not perfect, so I have recently started touching up with blotting sheets once or twice a day and WOW, those things are awesome! Soaks up all the oil and shine without messing up your mu! I use Clean and Clear which you can find in drugstores.

Finally, I have more information from my dermatologist about preventing acne (including such things as what mu to use, hair products, etc.), and links to several articles on acne and oily skin in my notepad!

Hope that helps! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

You might wan´t to stay clear of the Clinique 3-step if you don´t get effect even with the strongest ones and moved on to men´s.

All the alcohol in it I think can actually make it worse by irritating you skin to produce more oil to "compensate".

I used the "system" a while back - but in time my skin couldn´t tolerate it at all - before I had very normal skin with a few blackheads and at first I thought it made my skin so much smoother but over time my skin got kind of "ruff" and both dry and oily. Changing my skincare to more gentle stuff has really helped me get my normal skin back - I still use the DDML sometimes since it didn´t have anything to do with the problem for me it was the harsh soap and clarifyer that got my skin so irritated.

I can´t make any product recommendations since I don´t have oily skin - but trying more gentle stuff and seeing a dermatologist sounds like a good idea.

I'm in the same boat as you and I found (for me) the best thing is less is more.

My routine:

Mornings- Wash with Neutrogena Acne or Sensitive Skin Soap, then I use Sue Devitt primer under my makeup.

Evenings- Take off all makeup with remover (if I remember) Then I wash with plain water - no soap.

1-2 times a week - I will use Neutrogena face cleanser with the little beads or Queen Helene Mint julip face mask.

I find that if I use more than that, I tend to get more breakouts!!!!

My skin is very sensitive/oily and acne prone.

Hope you find something that works for you.
