Hello everyone!

Alright, here's the thing: I have a bit of an obsession with plucking my hair on my legs. But, it's not like I'll sit there, and spend a whole day plucking my entire leg or anything. But yet, I do have a bad habit with tweezers and plucking. I have all those blemmishes and scars on my legs, which is very embarassing. Generally, I either shave, wax or use Nair/Veet... I like all three, but have bad luck with all:

SHAVING:

pros: It's quick and pratical if I'm in a hurry.

cons: My hair grows back at a ridiculous speed. I know it makes hair grows back stronger and darker... I'll shave and have nice legs and the next morning, there's hair already wanting to come out!Maybe it's because my pores are big or something... And, of course, I'll accidently cut here and there which leaves a scar that takes forever to heal...

WAX:

pros: Love it because I can have hairfree legs for a while.. Apparently it's suppose to leave your legs free of hair for 3 weeks.

cons:^ not in my case: I have hair growing after a week after I've waxed. A month and a half ago, I burned the front part of my legs and got a blister... ouch! And guess what: I have a scar and it still hasn't healed! (see what I meant by saying scars take forever to heal? Yeah..) It's still dark red...

HAIR REMOVING LOTIONS:

pros: no cutting no bleeding...

cons: Again, hair grows back stronger and darker...

I noticed I have a quite a few of ingrowns and it's bugging me!!! What causes ingrowns?

I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me... I'm so tired of hiding my legs or putting fundation or anything to make the blemishes/scars less visible!! And come on, summer's at our doors, I do want to have nice legs and be able to wear shorts/skirts, get a little tan and stuff.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this...

HUGE THANK YOU!

Cookie -xox-

i'm sorry that happens to you :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> have you considered electrolysis? pricey, but i'm sure VERY worth it, especially in your case.

o ... wut type of wax are u using ... i realli like Bliss Poetic wax

It's a realli gentle formula .. so it shouldn't leave your skin all bruised .. i've used it on my face, bikini, ...

Hey!

Thanks soo much for taking the time to reply to my message.. Means a LOT to me, really it does.

Jennifer: I thought of electrolysis, but it's WAY to pricey! I went to a dermatologist and he had a look at my legs. out. His verdict? Nothing serious, no major disease or medical condition in sight... So, at least, it's not like some ugly skin disease or cancer or anything,

If I were rich, then, sure I'd go for it, right away, :smilehappyyes: oh yes, definetly!

LVA: Just so you know, I'm in Canada*. I've never seen the brand you mentionned, the Bliss Poetic wax, :sadno: ... Anyway, to answer your question: I always use what is known here as "hot wax"... It's the green, expensive one. The one you make melt in a pot on the stove. I put baby powder all over my legs (all over the floor, I should say :clap!) Then I'll apply the wax.. Am I doing something wrong here?? I don't think so...:icon_neut I did learn my lesson, last month, when I got my blister while waxing, !!

Thanks!

Can't wait to see your replies!!

Hugs,

Cookie

*Just saying this, thinking the brands do vary from places to places...

Yes, definitely exfoliate. I use a sugar scrub on my legs before shaving. Have you ever used an epilator? It pulls all the hair out by the root, then you wouldnt have to burn your skin with wax. I have one, but it takes awhile so I usually shave, although like you, my hair grows back really fast and really dark and thick. Shaving doesnt make it thicker and darker though, it just looks that way b/c it is stubble.

I shave daily, and if I shower twice a day, I shave twice a day! I still have a few scars around my ankles from mishaps... I'm not patient to let the hairs grow in to have them professionally waxed, not to mention I'd feel ucky! I agree w/ Amanda & Felicia about exfoliating. I use a sugar scrub also, and it helps a lot!

Oooh that sounds bad. Electrolysis would work. It is expensive, it's a laser treatment. Plucking hairs on your legs is a BAD habit though. I would just try to keep them smooth n hair free so you don't have anything to pluck and pick at. Have you tried any of those lotions that help the hair grow in slower? They make the hair thinner and less noticeable too. That's an option..

Hi cookie-chick, i guess this must be painful for you. Someone mentioned an epilator and that might be perfect for you. Also try not to pick up the tweezer's babes as once you start to pluck its hard to stop.I get carried away myself with my eyebrows. At least with the epilation it will remove the hair from the roots and will be gone for a good while and you can do different area's with it.

dixiewolf & FeliciaB69: About exfoliating, I know they sell those exfoliating gels and lotions but I've never tried them. I exfoliate with this:

...I recently found out that scrubbing your body with salt helped with pimples and dead cells. I tried it and it was fine... for a few hours...Is this an okay way to exfoliate??

kam_621: Thanks for replying! Yes, indeed, this is really bad... Now, yes, I know plucking is bad bad bad... BUT I never heard of lotions that help the hair grow in slower!!!!!! WOW!! Which one? What price?? Any brands?? WOOHOO!

Pauline: An epilator? I'm a bit hesitant, I've never seen that.. Do they sell it in drugstores? How much is it?? Is it a manual or electric thing?? And it makes the hair thinner and less visible?? WOW!! That option is AWESOME!!

Looking forward to hear from you all!!!

Big hugs!

Cookie

omg ouch.. ok well I've used both the hot wax.. that stuff kills.. I was talking to a girl and she said she used one that heats up in your hand.. it doesnt burn.. not really painful as the hot wax in the pot (still hurts pulling off) I would suggest looking for it because that other kind kills...

i'll see if I can find out what that brand name is for you!!!
