I don't know what to do. No matter how much I moisturize and exfoliate. ( I don't over exfoliate either), my skin flakes up. I am just talking about my face, not the rest of my body.

I use mineral makeup (powder) so maybe that a part of the dryness? Just thought of that now. hmmm.

My skin is easily irritated too. What can I do. Any advice??

thanks in advance!!

my skin acts crazy too. it's dry I mean REALLY dry, and its gotten worse in the past few months. i also get zits on my dry cheeks and my jaw, which i think is crazy. and the worst part is that i get these little red spots - something like a rash - on my cheeks after i wash my face. anyways, what i started doing is i started to apply plain olive oil on my face - especially on the driest areas - every night before i go to bed. and i think its working. its not breaking me out, i dont think its clogging my pores. my skin feels so much better. it really absorbs well too. i started putting it on my shoulders too because i break out there and its really getting better. so i think u should try it too. just make sure u get the first cold pressed kind. i hope i helped. good luck.

I love oils for moisturizing and just switched to Silkia camellia oil which is the best of all oils I've used. It keeps my dry skin perfectly hydrated and so soft, and the lines under my eyes are softened up and gone. I LOVE it! I think it could be a remedy for you also, plus it's natural and doesn't contain any chemicals to irritate the skin.

I have dry skin, too. I've been putting aloe vera gel on right after I wash and before I moisturize... It seems to have helped me.

Sounds weird, but I have a friend who puts Aquaphor on her face before she goes to bed. It only takes a little because it feels a little greasy, but she has absolutely beautiful skin now.

I too have extremely dry skin... try Mary Kays Extra Emolient Night Cream... it works sooooo well (and is pretty inexpensive too at $11 and will last you several months). It only takes a VERY small amount, but has really improved the dryness of my skin drastically.

Do you moisturize right after you get out of the shower? That's the best time to moisturize since your pores are open. I know a few friends who put on the Shea butter cream from the Body Shop right after they shower and their skin glows. My other friend also puts on a thin layer of vasline on her face before she sleeps and now she has a baby-bum-soft face.

I would definitely try some liquid or cream foundationn for dry skin, and try not to exfoliate too often, that won't help a lot, only irritate your skin more. Try using somemoisturizing serums- i love Ole henriksen and Juiceneauty and over that nice oily cream or oil.

Here's what worked on my dry skin:

I use face-wash appropriate for dry and sensitive skin. I don't over-exfoliate and I don't wash my face too often (twice or three times a day is enough).

For moistirizer I use a mixture of toner (for sensitive skin) and olive oil. And what helped me the most are honey face masks. I use them every 2 to 3 days, leave on for about 20 minutes and wash off. Works like charm.

Also don't forget to drink a lot of water - water is another miracle worker.

I have ridiculously dry skin on top of a light case of rosacea. I was using oils, intense hydrators, all of that- They were giving me pimples on top of the skin condition, and not really making a difference. Although expensive, i now swear by Creme de la mer... the cleansers are a waste of time when there are quality product like cetaphil and such available for so cheap. I haven't found anything comparable to the face cream though. It's made from sea kelp with no animal product at all and was originally invented as a burn cream so it is incredibly soothing (cleared up my sunburn in a day!)... If all else fails I would make the investment.

I have always had dry skin. I went to a makeup consultation and the woman could not believe how much moisturizer my skin took in. I have to really make a point to put on moisturizer. I also live in harsh winter climates. For serious dryness, I have used (at night) any moisturizer and topped it with that Mary Kay Extra Emolient Night Cream (kinda like a really nice smelling Vaseline). For emergency bad dry patches I have used Lipactin-Lip stick, Zim"s Crack Cream lip stuff. It worked. The point is to make a concentrated effort to moisturize. I get lazy and then have to use the mentioned extreme measures. Oddly, after getting good moisture and exfoliation, mineral makeup looked fantastic. If you can go to a CVS or online and buy a tube of LUMENE make up base. Smooths out the skin and is excellent for evening out foundation. LUMENE cosmetics is a Finnish line only at QVC. The makeup base is about 10 bucks.
