I hope I'm not out of line here going 'off subject' with hair, but I'm 62 and USED to have very thick hair. I've always had baby fine hair, but you can handle that when you have LOTS of hair.

Now there is a certain medication I HAVE to take that causes my hair to fall out more than it used to. NOT enough to actually make it ALL fall out......just enough to make it thinner. I can't BEGIN to tell you how much I've spent on things that DON'T work!! I even spent FIFTY BUCKS on a shampoo that promised thicker hair.......NOT!!!

I just purchased "Product Jonathan Create Volume Thickening Foam".....but I just got it yesterday and haven't tried it yet. I'm going to try that today and will let you all know how it works.

Do ANY of you have suggestions on how to make our hair look thicker and give it great volume? I'm taking GNC "Hair, Skin and Nail" formula and GNC "Ultra Nurishair" every day and HAVE noticed new hair growing in. I also just bought "Saw Palmetto" because I read it helps with hair loss.

Any other ideas???? OH........and I put that "Olay Complete Multi-Radiance Daily Illuminating Lotion" on my list of things to get for radiant skin.......but I am fortunate (at MY age) to have NO wrinkles, but a bit of radiance can't hurt now can it?!......but I DO have to battle dark circles under my eyes....SIGH!!!

Anyone else have these problems?

OH........and a suggestion here. I just discovered "Zia" products and bought a few of them.........WOW!!!! if you go to drugstore.com, you will see almost ALL of these products have FIVE stars and they do a WONDERFUL job........mature OR younger skin........GREAT products.

AND....Hurray for this new forum!!!

Hi Godfreygril, You wouldn't know it but i myself have had hair loss problems for about 6 years and like yourself have spent fortune;s on products. However keeping your hair (excuse the expression) is a full time job and i myself use shampoo's condition's take Saw Palemtto (every day) and use a Lasercomb. I have to say that i have long thick hair now and i try to avoid stress and that can make it worse along with medictaion (like my anti depressants which can cause hairloss) so i understand what you are going through. You have to start a plan of action and stick to it to see results and stop the hair from falling.II will be reviewing the Lasercomb shortly, so you can read my review and see what you think. I think the lasercomb is good for making the hair thicker but it wont stop it falling out.You need the SP for that.Have you treid Nourkin or Propeica??

Laser phototherapy for your hair

HMLC2units.jpg
Most people feel that hair defines personal style, contributes to appearance and perception, thus influencing personality, level of confidence and overall lifestyle.

HMLCmanwoman.jpg
Unhealthy and weak hair and hair loss are serious problems to many people - both men and women alike. Weak hair and hair loss can be chronic on-going conditions that can further worsen with passing time. Thin and lifeless hair as well as hair loss can cause emotional upsets and much unhappiness. People with problem hair or various hair conditions, such as thin, falling out or brittle hair or people with genetic tendencies to patchy and/or progressive baldness and hair loss are prepared to spend much time, effort and money chasing their dream of thick, full, bouncy and vibrant healthy hair or at least to stop their progressive hair loss. Countless 'hair growth' vitamin supplements are consumed, topical treatments sought and applied. Many sufferers seek painful and costly surgical procedures.

HairMax is an exciting breakthrough in the treatment of problem hair. HairMax is a low level laser shaped like a hair brush comb. HairMax merges the proven principles of cold laser light therapy - phototherapy - with the latest technology in a device that can

help people to achieve their dream hair.

Light is energy. Living cells thrive in light and hair is no different! HairMax LaserComb brings new hope of healthy hair and the end of hair loss to many millions of men and women.

Low level laser light therapy devices (soft lasers) deliver light into living tissues, increasing the ATP production and shuttling more energy and nutrients around the body for healthy metabolism and the appropriate functioning of cells, tissues and organs. Low level laser therapy devices have been in medical and veterinary use for some 35 years. In the USA, the FDA recently approved therapeutic/medical low level lasers for human use, because of their excellent safety with no significant risks attached. To date, much efforts have been vested in research into the effectiveness of the LLLT and its applications in medicine, dermatology and anti-aging indications.

Exclusive hair clinics and hair therapy salons all over the world have been using Low Level Laser Phototherapy in weak hair conditions and hair loss patients - presented as large fixed laser hoods resembling salon size hair driers - for many years. People suffering thin and lifeless hair and hair loss enjoy great improvements with such therapy. However, as laser hair therapy requires fairly frequent treatments over a long period of time, many people find procedures at therapy clinics inconvenient, time consuming, very costly and difficult to sustain.

HairMax LaserComb photo-biostimulation laser has been especially designed for home use. It is a compact version of a large laser therapy device. It is portable and easy to use.

HairMax can improve appearance of lifeless, thinning, falling out and dull hair. You can treat your hair conveniently and safely at home without the expense and/or the inconvenience of costly salon visits. HairMax is ergonomically 'hair brush like' shaped and handles just like a hair brush - you simply plug the laser comb into power supply, switch it on and slowly comb through your hair.

HairMax harnesses the energising and nourishing effects of laser light therapy to make hair look and feel healthy. Experience with HairMax LaserComb is impressive. HairMax LaserComb is used effectively by men and women with ranging from age 18 to the late 80s.

A typical user normally experiences noticeable positive benefits in the first 8 to 12 weeks. Such positive effects can include shinier, thicker and better manageable hair. Hair density improves with time. Some people claim a substantial growth with one patient reporting 50% increase in hair count after 2 months of laser comb use. Over 90% of laser comb users are satisfied with their outcomes. For many, it is like a dream come true.

Godfreygirl,

My mom (75 years) was having problems with thinning hair and her hairdresser gave her a Redken shampoo & conditioner (I think from the CAT line) and not only is her hair thicker, it's growing in auburn!

She was a red-head and most of her hair had faded to that funny gray-yellow most red-heads end up with. Now she's 3/4 auburn and the rest is gray.

I'll have to check which shampoo & conditioner she's using and post again.

Meg

Hi Meg......sorry it took so long to answer you. I've been in Tulsa, OK visiting my daughter and her family and am just now getting to the forum. Thanks for the tip on Redkin.....I've used some of their products ("GUTS" hair thickener for one) and I like them. Did you find out from your mom just which products she's been using that made her hair thicker???? Would you get back to me on that? I'd like to get some, but I want to get the RIGHT ones. THANKS!!!

Thanks for the tip Pauline!! As I posted above, I've been in Tulsa and am just getting back on the forum to answer posts. However, I checked out the price of this LaserComb and there is NO WAY I can afford a product like that.

The cost online is $545 and I'm not sure my CAR is even worth that much. SO......I'm going to just have to stick with the other products. But, thanks again for the suggestion. When 'my ship comes in', I will get this.

Godfrey-girl,

I finally got a look at the bottle of shampoo that has helped my mum with her thinning hair. It is a Redken shampoo, white bottle with "CAT" in blue letters. My sister tells me it has been discontinued, but maybe you could find some on ebay or at a Big Lots?

Sorry I took so long and can't be more helpful.

Meg

Hey Meg.......thanks for the info. Isn't that the way iit goes!

icon_rolleyes.gif
When something good comes out and WORKS, they dc it! I have a salon nearby that sells Redkin. I'll ask them what to get. I have some Redkin "Guts" and it works pretty well.....but it's not a shampoo.......it's to put in your hair before styling to give more volume. Wish me luck and thanks for getting back with me..

Hi godfreygirl! You mentioned that your hairloss started with a certain medication. Best bet would be to contact your doctor and explain the hair loss issue. Maybe he/she will have a suggestion or possibly even adjust your dosage. Also, ask your doctor about using Rogaine for women. If the hair loss is an unavoidable side-effect, this might be the best solution.

Good luck!

Thanks.....but I think I gave the WRONG idea with my original post. I am NOT losing my hair or 'going bald'. My hair has just gotten thinner as I've gotten older.....used to have to get it thinned out. I STILL have LOTS of hair, but a medication I take for pain, IF I take too much of it, doesn't help that. I just have VERY FINE hair.....baby fine. SO.....with the baby fine hair and not having as much of it as I did when I was younger, that is what I was posting about with the fuller, thicker, volume, etc. thing. I definitely do not need Rogaine.....but, again, thanks for the suggestions.

YES.......that stuff IS great! I've been taking GNC Women's "Hair, Skin & Nails Formula" for several months now and I see LOTS of new hair growing. It ONLY took about two weeks for it to work. The only BAD thing........it makes new hair every place else too.
icon_eek.gif
You know those tiny chin hairs we hate....and the 'mustache' hairs....shaving legs more often.....the whole bit. But, I can put up with that because of so much new hair on my HEAD! You know us girls......our HAIR is our 'crowning glory'! BUT, it doesn't change the fact that I STILL have baby fine hair that doesn't have much volume. I'm always looking for good products that will do that. OH.......that stuff has 2500 mcg of biotin in each tablet and you take two a day. I've also been taking GNC "Ultra Nurishair".......so I don't know which is doing the best job. I'll just keep taking both.....but it's probably the biotin mostly.
