What is Beautypedia?

Beautypedia.com is an unparalleled online database featuring thousands of candid, research-supported product reviews from international best-selling beauty author Paula Begoun and The Cosmetics Cop Team. Members have exclusive access to detailed, scientifically validated cosmetic critiques and assessments of hundreds of companies, from major name brands to smaller boutique, home shopping, infomercial, and spa lines.

If you go to the website you can see some free reviews, to see what you´re gonna be getting if you subscribe.

I bought a membership for a month (only cost me $4.95), but you have to cancel the membership before the month is over or else they will charge another monthly fee to your credit card (which is kinda annoying, but I marked the day the subscription runs out in my calenders so I don´t forget). In the past days I´ve been copying and pasting brand overviews from the website (Paula gives an introduction to each brand, along with the brand´s philosophy, strengths and weaknesses in products) and individual product reviews. I figured hat way I can make the most out of my 5 bucks before the months is over

There´s also a "best of" list, where you can find the best products (as rated by Paula and her team, each review also explains what´s in in the product and why it made it on the best of list) in each product category, which I find very helpful.

I´ve already wrote a list of products I want to purchase or plan to purchase once I run out of some old skincare products.

The whole website is a very interesting read, I would recommend it to everyone who wants to learn more about what´s in the skincare products you´re using. There are just so many false claims and exaggerations out there, and almost all of us fall for them from time to time. I definitely learned some new things while reading countless reviews, and I believe this knowledge will help me save money in the future, so I won´t waste money on products that are useless for my skin, or are overpriced for what you get.

Does anyone else have a subscription to Beautypedia? How did you like the reviews on what did you learn from them?

$4.95 for a month - that's great. I thought it was more than that. Maybe I'll get one month as a Christmas present to myself.

Personally, I love her reviews. And I am thrilled that she states all sources.

I subscribe to the cosmetic cop new letters (free).

Every week she sends out a few free reviews.

I wish she would do more on hair. But apparently, most products are quite good - hard to make a crappy hair product. I guess it comes down whether one wants to pay $5 for a shampoo, or $20.

I agree, it is a great deal. I don´t need more than a month´s subscription for now, cause I´m copying all the reviews I need, along with the best-of product list (which is probably my favorite part of Beautypedia), in a Word Document for future reference.
