Okie, ive purchased Extra Virgin Olive Oil,French Sea Salt, and Molasses (sugar form)

I wanna do the body scrub. Its just that im unsure the right measurement i should put of each of those above. And i wanna store/keep it in my bathroom so that i can just use it whenever i wanna use, rather than doing it every time (how safe and will it expire or grow some bacteria?

pls help!

I'm sure someone on here will know the answer to this. I'm not sure, though. I'm sure it will keep for a little while, but I'm not sure how long.

you mean the big sea salt? i like to mix it with sugar (brown or white) for my sensitive skin. usually i put about one tablespoon of each and mix with some olive oil, i don't know the exact measurements, i like to mix until it becomes a paste. usually i can do my whole body with that, so maybe you could just multiply those ?

i store it in a plastic box that used to contain a rubbish bodycream from garnier (250ml). i put it in the fridge, but i don't think it's necessary. i've heard you can keep it until 3 weeks after before it becomes unusable (i like to make my own before each use, so unfortunately, i don't know if it's true). if you wanna be sure, maybe add some vitamin e drops or caps, it's a natural preservative.

Vitamin E will help prolong the life of the oil, but is not a preservative, so if water gets in your scrub, it won't stop mould forming.

If you're not putting a preservative in, only make enough for one go at a time. If your using in the bath or shower, you will be introducing water into it, it's pretty much unavoidable.

If you do make up a load in advance, remove enough for one application before you get in the shower / tub and do it away from the taps and with dry utensils - to make sure you don't get any water in. Store the rest in an air tight container, in a cool dry place. As long as NO water gets in it'll keep for a while.

If i'm just making enough for one go, I use a couple of slack handfuls of salt or sugar, a tbsp or so of honey and a couple of drops of essential oil then just add enough oil to make it the consistency I like.

Aloe Vera gel is a natural preservative. You can use as little as 10% aloe vera gel in your mix, and it will retard the growth of bacteria at room temperature.

I hope this helps.

this may sound weird but you need to use the 'eye' method and just add a bit of each until you reach a manageable consistency.

dont forget a lovely rich moisturising cream after and good luck!

thanxx ladies.Im thinking of applying the mixture before shower onto dry skin, and then keep it away outside and shower finally

lets see how it works!

I'd keep that in the fridge, or at least in a dark, cool place, and transfer to a smaller container, as needed.
