How do you find a dermatologist in your area? What do you type like in the search engine..or look up in the phone book. Can I call a docors office and have them give me a list or something? Or have them suggest someone?? My skin is getting way outta hand

Look in the yellow pages under "Physicians and Surgeons", then there will be subcategories, e.g. pediatrics, obstetrics, orthopedics, etc. Find the subcategory "Dermatology" and go from there. I don't know what kind of insurance you have, but you might need to get a referral from your primary care physician or else your insurance won't pay for it. Depending on where you live, it may very well take a loooong time to get an appt. It takes about 6 months where I live because there is only one group in the city closest to me (about 50 min. away), so EVERYBODY who needs a dermatologist goes there. So if I were you, I wouldn't let the grass grow under my feet.

Thanks! I dont have insurance anymore. Which sucks. Idk if I should call b/c I know it will be expensive

Yeah, that does suck. I'm sure it'll be pretty pricey. You could always call and find out, or you can also go to your regular doctor - he can prescribe something for your skin as easily as a dermatologist can. Good luck!

yellow pages, yes. if you have a family doctor, ask him if he has one to suggest you. and definitely phone and ask about the prices, even with social insurance sometimes it's just too pricey.

sometimes those Val-Pak's will have discount coupons for services by a dermatologist (new customer service). It might be worth it to use the coupon for a consultation before you commit to spending a large amount of money for treatment.

Call your local hospital clinics in your area and tell them you don't have health insurance coverage and they will help you find a dermatologist or doctor that will help you and usually their charges are based on a sliding scale and they usually will give you Free Samples.

Ditto to what Shar said. You can usually find a decent one that will work with you on the cost. Let us know how you make out! Good luck!
