How to dye only roots to make an ombre style?

Ok, so I dont know why but lately, my hair has been growing out waay darker than my natural dirty blonde hair. Im getting sick of having to dye it all the time and now Im thinking out dying only the begginings of my hair light brown and make it seem like an ombre style, i hope im being clear, this is not my first language.

but i dont know how? do i section it out and dye the roots or what? my hair is shoulder lenght.

There are ombre dye kits available now. The basic gist is that you apply the dye strongest at your roots and comb it down.. if you're going dark to light.
