How to disguise the smell of self-tanners?

How do you do it?

I used the self-tanner (Johnson's Holiday Skin lotion) for the first time ever... and it smells awfully...

I hope the smell will wear off. I don't want people to think I didn't shower lol

 
Don't they smell gross???!!! :yuck: I've heard the Hawaiian Tropic one doesn't smell like that but I haven't tried it myself yet.

 
I'm convinced ALL self tanners smell. I've tried about 5 different brands and I can honestly say - they all stink.

The only one that I've tried that had the least amount of weird scent was the "Oil of Olay Revive" lotion. Its similar (in product) to the Jergens Glow but it has the least noticeable scent than the other brands I've tried.

 
i used johnsons and hated the smell, so i read some reviews and found alot of people thought the olay version was the best smelling.

 
yeah, i agree with amethyst about them all smelling! the ones i've tried have all worn off, though. did it eventually do it with you, maja? did you try it yet?

 
The smell finally wore off after a few hours. My bf smelled it though; but he found it hilarious (thank god) lol

 
I have tried them all, and Hawaiian Tropic is the only one that didn't stink, stink, stink.

It smells like green tea, gives you a gradual tan, and does not streak. You also don't have to bother with scrubbing, etc. before you use it - just slap it on like a regular lotion.

 
you should put it on before you go to bed and shower in the morning, or maybe use baby powder, dove gradual tanner smells very good!

 
ew yea i hear you about that awful smell!! because of self-tanner i always worry that i smell disgusting (the things we do for a non-cancer causing tan)!

what i've been doing is using jergens natural glow and after i put it on, i let it dry and then use a nice-smelling body lotion over top (lately it's been B&BW sweet pea or country apple). that seems to make a huge difference.

Get one that smells Yummy! I use Benefit Jiffy Tan and it smells like citrus fruits.

 
I have the jergens one, and it does stink at first. After my tube is used up, I plan on trying the Hawaiian Tropic kind.

 
Try the Dove version of holiday skin, it does not smell even the next morning like the Johnsons, I also find it gives a much better result than the Johnsons too. Also if you have the money St Tropez is a beautiful tan to use just a gorgeous lingering scent to it!
 
I just try to ignore it. the one I use smells like Pringles Chips I think, whereas my bf said it smells like a (clean! LOL thank god) diaper. he doesn´t mind the smell though and I´ve just gotten used to it...I always wear it at night btw

 
Which one do you use Andrea? I've been using the new banana boat one at night and I can smell it a little but I just shower in the morning. My husband thinks it smells like sweat, great, that's just what I want to smell like when I'm trying to snuggle up to him. Oh well!!

 
I know that a few people have added vanilla extract to their ST to help ward off the nasty DHA odor.

 
i use jergens natural glow and it has a nice smell to it.. my b/f like's it. i always apply it at night so i dont worry about smelling during the day (incase i do)

 
I find that almost all of them smell bad. I put it on at night before I sleep and then in the morning I shower so the smell goes away.

 
My son thinks my Jergens smells like sweat too. It doesn't bother me too much at first, it reminds me of the beach, but after an hour it really smells like BO.

I have been waiting for about 30 minutes and putting a scented body lotion and matching body spray on over top of it. It makes it seem better to me, but I hope it doesn't smell like I have BO and am just trying to cover it with scented lotion and body spray LOL!
