How to buy perfume?

I really want a honey scented fragrance and see some online that look good but am not sure about ordering something I've never tried.  I tried emailing for sample but am usually told to just buy it and they will take it back if I don't like it.  Seems kind of wasteful!

Have you ever taken a risk in buying perfume online?  Or do you only stick to stuff you have sampled?  What's the best way to buy perfume?

I bought DKNY Be Delicious online without ever having smelled it because it sounded awesome. Fortunately, it smells awesome too and doesn't give me migraines.

Prada Candy sounded good, and while I was a work-study, I tried some on at the Canteen Store at the VA Hospital, and then bought a Sephora Sampler for $50 to essentially get it for $50 instead of $60 (plus a dozen or so samples!)

My next perfume will be Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noir, I tried that thanks to the Sephora sampler and it's my favorite scent.

I have a friend tell me about the Sephora sampler and forgot about it.  What a great idea!  I put one on my wishlist.  Do you know how long you have to bring your voucher in for the perfume you choose?
