i was just wondering is there a point when you are using too many skincare products?? i have a friend who is a skincare product junkie and has so many different facial cleansers, toners, face masks, moisturizers, etc.!! she is always trying out new masks and uses so many products on her face..is this good?? i told her that she shouldn't use so much but i don't think she believes me.

I think it's all a matter of preference. I don't think you can overdo skincare, unless you are using items that counteract eachother. For me it's all about time. I want to find the most efficient product(s) that will give me the best results. If that's 3 steps or 6 steps, so be it.

i like to keep it simple, but if someone's skin is really challenging..i guess they would need more

but not THAT much more o_O

as long as she's not irritating or drying her skin out...i guess it's not that bad

but i dont like putting so much stuff on my face, that's justme =]

i've noticed that less is best lately. i used to do the same crap and my skin would go crazy. if her skin isn't, then more power to her.

u are right. too many products can upset the balance of skin. its best to keep to a simple routine.

I think most people have found that a few products are better than a lot, and using the same thing each day (with the possible exception of a weekly mask or something) is usually best. If you use too many products or change them too often, your skin can go crazy trying to adjust between each product! I know whenever I tried a new acne prescription, my dermatologist always made me use it for 6 months before he would even consider letting me try another one!

As another example, there's been several girls on this site who have oily skin and said that when they used lots of products to prevent oil and acne, it didn't really do anything. But when they cut back to one or two oil-control/acne products, their skin suddenly got a lot less oily! (Sadly that didn't work for me, but it's worked for some!)

I think less is better. I think the more you mess with your skin, the more irritated it can get. This is especially true for me.

i think once you find what works for you, you should stick with that. although i know the curiousity of wanting to try a new cleanser or whatever. that's ok, every now and then.

I think simpler is better, in part because the fewer steps there are, the more likely you are to do the whole routine. I play with different products too, but find I go back to the same few tried-and-true products time and again. As long as your friend has the money to spend and her skin has the tempermaent to put up with it, I don't think she's doing any harm (unless she's using several harsh products in conjunction with one another). What's most important is to do what works for you, and oftentimes it's less, especially in the summer.

Less is more for skin care, the more products you pile up on your skin the more likely its all gonna end up in tears. I keep mine very simple.. Wash my face with a mild facial soap, use spf 25 sunscreen in day and use a clear eye gel for around my eyes. Nothing else

I do not thin it is as important as how much than it is what. 98% of the skin care market is chemical and petro chemically based. When you get on a skin care line you have a better chance of getting top results because they were made to work together. If you are mixing brands and lines you may be causing chemical reactions you don't want to play with.
