Okay...I have this friend that is going to get fat injected into the folds between her nose and mouth and she is only 26!! do you all think that is a little too early to consider that stuff, or do you think it is more common now, accepted, and not so weird? Do you think there are moral implications involved? I mean...i know I feel pressure by society and think one day I will consider it, but do you, or do you know anyone who has done this in their mid-20's? i am a big proponent of taking care of your skin and think that will help lesson the need for invasive procedures in the future. i personally am not against this sort of thing, but I see myself doing things like botox when I am in my 30's or 40's - i guess it depends how i look. i am not against it at all! so i would be interested to hear what some of you all think about the popularity of this right now - the younger and older women on this board. and feel free to hold nothing back!

if i would i'd wait as long as i could until i would really need it.

so like 40s or 50s (i hope i get my mom's skin since she's 50 and is starting to get wrinkles).

i think i saw on dr 90210 some one geting botox and they said the sooner you start treatments the less deeper the wrinkle so yeah you could wait till ur 30 or older but the lines may become deeper

Personally I'm going to try to do everything I can in terms of skincare while I'm young so I hopefully won't have to go under the needle later because that stuff just scares me, plus it's way expensive.

i think i've heard the same thing, han. but don't you need to have lines in order to use botox? i know some people my age have lines, but i really don't have any on my face. i guess i have a couple underneith my eyes that are pretty normal. i guess i don't see the point in really trying to paralyze the muscles that cause wrinkles until i start actually seeing something that needs to be paralyzed! i guess some people my age, like my friend, have real lines. she's a smoker....i guess that is why she has them probably. i read someplace that cindy crawford's dermatologist says you should start at 25 with all injections! it sounds like a sweet deal to look freakishly young forever, but alas, i am a year past his projected starting point and live off of school loans! i guess i'll have to age like the rest of humanity...until i come up with that million dollar idea! thanks for the replies...it's interesting to hear what people think and know. my 65 year old therapist gets injections and looks great. but she says she has friends who just eat super healthy and do yoga everyday and look just as good. i want to start yoga for real soon!

i'm getting to the age that i'm considering some botox in my forehead. i never thought i would ever considered any type of procedure, but i guess you should never say never!

I'm not too keen on the idea of injecting botulism into my forehead, so I don't see myself ever getting injections. I have a fairly rigorous prevention regime now, and my dad is 70 and barely has a wrinkle, so I think that a combination of good genes and high quality skincare will keep me young forever!

you make a good point.. i dont know much about it, i was just stateing what i saw on the show.. i agree if you dont have wrinkles then dont worry untill you get them some people get them sooner than others i guess depending on lifestyle and if they protect there self from sun..

I am approaching 30 in 5 months and I am considering a few things.

While I take good care of my skin and always have, didn't tan etc. I still have areas that have aged in my opinion prematurely.

While doing yoga and eating right may work great for some in the preservation of their youth, this in NO means implys that it is going to work for everyone. There are so many factors that play a part in the rate that our skin ages.

So I am an advocate of it for me and me only. In other words, I am not telling the whole world they should "Get with the times" and go have cosmetic procedures done. This is a decision each person needs to make without the assitance of someone elses pressures or opinoins.

This is a mixed bag for "all people" because there are some people that excessively go under the knife/needle and are never happy because it is a psychological problem they are trying to fix surgically. In these types of situations, the availability of cosmetic procedures is more harmful than helpful.

First, it's not always a matter of taking care of your skin. Some people do not like their appearance and restylin (sp) and botox may be what will really help.

And it is up to the doctor to decide if the procedure is warranted.

I had plastic surgery 9 years ago - dermabrasion. My skin was horrible and believe me, no one washed their face more than me. A Plastic Surgeon felt he could help and I'm glad I listened. I'm 42 and now have clear, beautiful, healthy skin with no wrinkles to boot.

Rather than asking yourself why another wants/needs injections,

ask yourself why it's so important to you that they don't receive the help they need, in order to look/feel better about themselves.

I do not think I will get any sort of injections on my face. I take pretty good care of my skin right now, and i have heard the oilier your skin is, the less wrinkles you will have when you are older. My mom is 45 and has only a few crows feet when she laughs, and i have the same skin she did when she was my age.

Now as far as sugery for other parts of the body, i would do that before i do anything to my face.

I agree and feel the same way. I just turned 30 but don't have any crows feet or deep facial lines (even with all the tanning i've done) so i'm fortunate. I am waiting until these things crop up to have it done. Don't see the sense in doing it if they aren't already there, regardless of what age they recommend it. I do think the sooner the better though and will be running to have it done when I spot them.

Well said and I also agree! I don't like the appearance of my under eye area or some old acne scars I have on my cheek so I want to have injections to fill them in. I just keep putting it off because I know it's not something I really need but I want it because I think it will make me feel better with the way I look.

Hmm.... Not to say I wouldn't at some point, but not at the tender age of 27 y.o. I wouldn't...

I got Zyplast Collagen injections for the first time when I was 25. I had some premature expression lines (from crying so much after a break-up). I was extremely happy with my results. And, would love to keep getting fillers injected.

I'm more cautious now than I was then about injectable fillers because I've heard of things going wrong. It's very rare, but I've read about some people getting disfigured for life when fillers were accidently injected into a blood vessel. And, I personally don't want to take the risk.

I would certainly consider it, but only 35+. I already am careful to prevent wrinkles, with sun protection, moisturiser without, etc. I think i would probably Botox it as apposed to collagen or fat; just seems less gross. And I will save a ton on skincare products ( no wrinkle-reducers for me, thank you!)

i wouldn't at all unless i look really, really, really, really wrinkly and i look 20 years older than my age!

Im all for modern technology. Its there, and when I have to I will so use it. Why not look younger if you can? I live in Boca Raton, Florida and this is like Plastic Surgery Central. But, I swear all these older woman out here still look damn good. So, where ever they go.... I want the number when I am that age!

To be honest, I dnot think I would ever considerr injections. I have seen women who have gotten them and they just dont look natural. I think I would rather accept the aging process but try to slow it down for as long as I can.

Well, I think everyone draws a line somewhere about how far is too far when it comes to looks .... for me, I think things like injections and plastic surgery are going to far. (For more examples, others may think injections are okay but not surgery; others may think anything is fine; at the other extreme, some would think that just wearing makeup is going to far to fit society's definition of beauty! So my line is injections and surgery.)

Looking young (or beautiful or whatever) is just not important enough for me to spend the money for those procedures, and of course any kind surgery would have health risks (though I'm sure they are very rare for a lot of a lot of common cosmetic procedures). As long as I look at least to close to my age, I think I will be happy! :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Plus, I inherited my dad's super oily skin, and from what I've heard, oily skin doesn't tend to wrinkle much.... but it does tend to sag as you get older if you don't take care of it!
