Hi Ladies,

Tonight I did my first "real" peel. Last week I did L'Oreal's 10% and even with three layers (=30%?) I didn't feel a thing - nada. Meantime, my MUAC order arrived with the 50% glyco peel. The worse part for me was how ITCHY I felt - the burn/tingle was secondary. I did it for only a minute (they recommended 30 sec to 1 min for the first app) and then rinsed it off.

Other than my face feeling very slightly warm and very very slightly flushed, my skin's doing well after putting on Neutrogena's Visibly Firm (for the Copper in it), Emu Oil, and then Derma Butter.

How many peels will it take until I see results? Directions say use no more than once a week. My purpose for the peels is primarily to even out skin tone .... ok, and maybe help to lessen lines and wrinkles via the collagen and elastin rebuilding which is supposed to happen. Yup, I can feel the little skin molecules 'turning over' already - they're doing somersaults - LOL.

Thanks for any input,

Kathy

PS: Yes, I will put on SPF 45 tomorrow if I have to go out in the sun.

Somersaults! Well, it sounds like you've done your homework. I'm glad you posted this, for I was thinking about trying the L'Oreal ReNoviste Peel myself..you didn't feel it at all? Would it be worth buying as a 'starter' or not buying at all? I've read mixed reviews about that peel. Anyway, to answer your question...on average, you should start seeing results within 6-8 weeks for wrinkles and sooner for more even-toned skin. It differs for everyone of course, and depend on the level of GA. I'm sure you'll get quicker results though, with your 50 than the L'Oreal.

No, nada with L'Oreal ... not tingle one even with three layers on ... and I left it on for 12 minutes, which is 2 minutes longer than they say. Now my ex-b/f always said I was tough-skinned, but I don't think he meant it that way  . Just so you know, I do not have sensitive skin ... it's normal (not oily or dry) ... I'm not fair-skinned ... about 60% of my work has always been outdoors (field marine biologist), although I'm not sure if all that outdoor exposure has anything to do with my non-reaction to 10-25% glyco.

I'll tell you though, jumping right to 50% (patience not being a virtue of mine) was, well, maybe not a mistake, but maybe should have only done 30 or 40% because the 50% WAS burny at the end of one minute. Not unbearable, but definitely burny nonetheless. Next time I'm going to mix a few drops of the 10% L'Oreal with a few drops of the 50% to get something closer to 30/35% and see if I can keep that on my face for 3-5 minutes without self-igniting.

Also, I DID use the 10% for the undereye area where the skin is thinner. I would NOT recommend jumping to a high glyco % for that area right off the git-go. So the 10% soln does have a function. Maybe after a few peels I'll trying upping that area to 15% and see how that goes, but DO be careful there.

Thanks for the response on time. I know everyone's different, but at least now I have a ball-park idea.

Kathy

I have dry and somewhat sensitive skin and had been doing 30% glycolic peels for about 3 months. I think I did the them weekly for about the first 3 times and then after that it was more like every two or three weeks. I didn't really notice anything dramatic visually but I got a lot of compliments on my skin from friends and family. I did notice however that my skin was much much smoother and almost felt like a baby's bottom. It also had more of an even skintone after about a few weeks of time. I recently jumped up to the 40% peel and am really liking it so far. I am 35 and have unusually deep expression /frown lines on my forehead. I do believe the peels along with Epidermx microdermabrasion and the copper products are really helping.

By the way I have read to dilute a peel with aloe vera gel. Hope this info helps.

Kim, Thanks for replying. Last night I used MUAC's 50% GA - made it to the one minute mark before I had to rinse it off. I'll dilute it a bit for the next time. I know results take time, just wanted to get an idea of how long.

BTW, you too use dermabrasion. How long do you wait after you've done a peel before dermabrading again? I left two days between my last dermabrading and when I did the peel ... figured it would be detrimental to do a peel only one day after dermabrading. That would be assault - LOL

Elljmz, Thanks for the tip on diluting with Aloe gel. And nice to see someone else doing the dermabrasion. I'll be joining y'all with the copper peptides soon - as soon as my package gets here. In the interim, I am using Neutrogena's Visibly Firm with Copper ... might be helping prep the skin for the stronger SCRP's.

I bought a 30% gycolic peel, and I was expecting to see some peeling, but nada ! It doesn't really tingle or burn that much either. As far as fading acne scars, I can't see any dramatic result, but I'm thinking that it may take longer with black skins. I dunno...

My skin feels brighter tho' and friends have commented that it's glowing. I'm not sure, but if they say so :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have l'oreal's renoviste peel, and I sleep with it on my face... because it's not strong, I thought it would be the same as putting an AHA night cream on. Don't know if it's a bad thing. But I have to say that my skin feels supple and smooth in the morning

omg you put 50% on your skin without building up to it?! Poor skin! I use 50%, but I slowly worked up from 25%, over the course of months!
