My manager at work is taking us all to a baseball game next week for a "teambuilding activity." We will work in the morning then are leaving at 11am to tailgate, then the game starts at 1:00 pm and I would assume it lasts all afternoon (I've never been to a real baseball game but I'm sure it will be long!) Now since I am very pale and can get a sunburn in 20 minutes, I definitely need sunscreen that day! :icon_eek: My question is, how long does sunscreen last? I normally do my makeup around 6:30 or 7:00 am, would it last all day? I would use an oil-free sunscreen with the highest SPF I could find. I would hate to wash off my mu (or skip face mu entirely) so I can reapply sunscreen later in the day, but if that would prevent a nasty sunburn I guess I will do it ..... I've already heard stories about a guy last year (I guess the baseball game is a yearly tradition!) who got a nasty, super-red and peeling sunburn from the game -- all my teammates still laugh when they remember it! (And yes, I work with all men .... the joys of being a software engineer :rolleyess: )

I've read that it should be reapplied every two hours, but I couldn't do that.

I'd wash my face (leaving my eyes alone) at work before heading out to the game, reapplying makeup and sunscreen. That's what I do when I work outside (in Florida) all summer.

Neutrogena dry touch is a great sunscreen. I use the SPF 45. You can't even tell you have it on. I'd reapply it over my makeup again later in the day at the game. Nobody will think you're wierd for not wanting a burn.

You're going to a baseball game, so why not wear a baseball cap?: or a hat with a bigger and wider brim all around? I wear baseball caps all the time outdoors .... keeps the sun off your face pretty much except for the lower sides of your cheeks ... and keeps you from squinting (yes, strong sun even with sunglasses on will make you squint ... squinting = wrinkles). I don't wear mu except on rare occasions I'll put on eye makeup, but I think if you kept a bb cap on you should be ok without reapplying sunscreen to your face during the day and worrying about your mu.

Higher sunscreen SPF would definitely help a lot, but I also agree with Kathy (Doplin gal), I'd wear a cap or hat or something to protect my face from direct sunlight.

Hm, I guess I could wear a cap, but I hate myself in hats because I look like a boy with my glasses, hair tied back, and square jawline, yuck .... I think I'd rather skip the face mu (maybe just wear some concealor under the eyes and such) so I can reapply sunscreen! Because I don't want to spend 20 minutes in the bathroom before we leave applying sunscreen and mu, I'm already going to get in very little work that morning!

You should probably reapply the sunscreen. you don't have to take off your makeup, just choose something oil free and put it over your makeup. It shoudln't give you problems. I use coppertone ultra sport spf 48 it's oil free and pretty cheap. I'd wear a cap too.. I dunno I'm just paranoid about sun damage and it's better safe than sorry when it comes to roasting!

I reapply sunscreen every 2 hours if I am in the sun for an extended period of time. I was told that if you are not using a great sunscreen, reapplying every 1 to 2 hours is necessary to give you the best protection.

I remember reading somewhere that it all depends on what the active ingredient is in the sunscreen. I can't remember where I saw it, but I remember finding out that my Kiss My Face sunscreen was only going to last 2 hours before I needed to reapply. I can't remember where I saw it!!! This is so frustrating.
