Ok, for the last 6 or so years my hair has been through alot of bleaching and processing. Over the last year and a half I have dyed it darker, left it alone, and its getting healthier although its been A LONG ROAD! I currently use Nexxus conditioners and Nexxus Treatments which are really expensive-- although they do do a good job so I dont mind paying.

My question is... how important is spending top dollar on a good shampoo? I dont want to be spending tons on a shampoo when I can just get one from the drugstore for $4.99 if it reallly isn't gonna make a difference. The lady that does my extentions says it is still VERY important to use a good shampoo as well. I don't know what to beleive? What do you guys think?

I´m not an expert but I´ve heard that you don´t really need an expensive shampoo (and I live by that. bought some Kerastase shampoos in the past and they didn´t change how my hair looked!), the conditioner is much more important

and I also read that when you have extension you do need a special shampoo with special ingredients or something...but I don´t remember why

I supose it depends on your hair type, dry scalp, greasy etc there are expensive shampoos out the but i find if you get a normal priced shampoo they do the same job, iv never been deering enough to go for the really cheap ones tho im not sure what they'd be like

I think it makes a difference, cheap shampoo can over strip your hair and leave it dry or not get it clean enough and leave it brassy or limp. I've tried alot of d/s shampoos and haven't found anything I like but that doesn't mean that you wouldn't.

Thanks for your imput guys! Andrea, my extentions are human hair so I just wash them as I would normally wash my own hair. I think you need special shampoo for synthetic hair and hair pieces. I also agree that the conditioners are what makes a huge difference in the health and appearance of your hair. Its been a nightmare growing my hair out but I'm finally getting it back to normal.

I agree... I rarely see a difference between drugstore shampoo and high end. I'd spend more on the conditoners and stylers than on the shampoo. But you also don't want to buy something that will leave you with a lot of residue (Pantene) or be too strong for everyday use (Clarifying) The only shampoo I sort of see a difference with is the HealthySexyHair soy milk - it feels clean and soft, but not so soft that it feels like I have 10 lbs. of residue on there. The conditioner is great too. My hair is a lot easier to straighten when I use them. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> But I wouldn't go crazy on shampoo... unless you personally see a difference or have a special need (color, permed etc.)

If your hair is average or minimally damaged, drugstore brands can be just fine.

However, if you have "special needs" hair like I do... (EasyStraight fried it months back and I'm still coping) I absolutely believe investing in a good shampoo makes a difference. I use Joico K-Pak and while expensive, it's worth it!

well i don't know much about some of the expensive shampoos, but if your hair is just really dry all you need is a deep conditioning treatment(shampoo and conditioner )i would use a shampoo for dry damaged hair and cond. and deep conditioner use a few times a week at least. if it's fried or really damaged you'll probably also have to keep cutting it out. deep treatments will make hair soft and give it moisture but will not correct it if it's damaged.sorry. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
