Hi everyone! I posted awhile back about finding the right 'regimen' finally, and I'm still working on it. I've decided to do the TTO instead of backing back into BP. I have bought so much stuff lately... it seems like this 'natural' way costs a lot more, so I hope it works. Another this stuff should last me foreverrr. Right now:

Cleanser: Cetephil with a few drops of TTO

Toner: Rosewater w/ gylercian(sp), TTO, VitaminE

Lotion: Olay Sensitive Skin w/ SPF w/ a few drops of TTO & Lavender Oil

I'm doing this every morning and night. And I have done the OCM with Jojoba oil once so far. I've noticed with these steps/products my oil has cut down sooooo much. I'm not reapplying makeup all day. Although, my breaksout seem to be taking forever to go away! It's like I went through the 'get worse before better' stage and it's taking days to reach that point. Is that normal? I have no new breakours(yay!), but the ones I had got really really big and red and finally went down, but left spots. Did this happen to anyone else? It's been almost 2weeks doing these steps, and I do notice. Will it eventually work full force? What do you guys do with TTO? And is what I'm doing okay, any advice?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

possibly she means Tea Tree Oil? (she mentions breakouts a few times and tea tree oil is a common "natural" ingredient used to combat acne)

I don't really understand your comment about natural costing more, as you are not using natural base products?? Natural can be very cost effective, because you are not paying for fancy packaging, branding and advertising. The OCM, for example, just requires castor oil and any edible oil from your cupboard or the supermarket. It's not a good idea to add ingredients to commercial products unless you are very familiar with formulation, you can disturb the pH or set off a chemical reaction which can damage the skin. It's also going to make it difficult for people to predict the response as your regime is likely completely unique.

Cleanser: OCM with castor oil, jojoba and sweet almond oils and homemade castile soap

Toner: rosewater and witch hazel

Moisturizer:  DIY

It may seem like it costs more because you have to buy all the ingredients separately and they come in larger sizes. It actually costs a lot more because you are buying ingredients to make up 5-10 containers.  Once you have collected all your ingredients, the unit price is lower than buying store bought products.

I don't use tea tree oil.  I don't like the smell and I find it too drying.  I have normal skin, not acne prone nor oily.  I have several essential oils that I add to different products.  Tea tree oil is a disinfectant.  Apparently you can add to shampoos too and use straight up on pimples.  Still, I don't use it at all even tho I have a huge bottle of it in my stash. I'm keeping it around for a day one of my kids come home with head lice from school.

I have also started making my own styling wax for me and my husband. Once you have amassed a list of ingredients, you will find that they have multiple uses.

Thank you divadoll for replying. I understand what you mean about costing less in the long run. I just didn't realize the oils cost so much, lol. Our natural shop here seems to be slightly pricey, but I'm not waiting around for shipping.. I didn't know if it was 'okay' to really add stuff to products. I mean I'm reading tooooooons of reviews of people doing it. It seems to be keeping my face 'okay'. I'm really liking rosewater. What portion do you use that with witch hazel? The tea tree oil is very strong smelling, it's keeping my acne done, but not totally gone.

I use 1/2 witch hazel and 1/2 rosewater.

Until I found a good, closeby supplier, I used online stores.  The shipping time is not lengthy and sometimes it is the only option I have because my supplier doesn't carry everything I want.

My moisturizer was a created from my all time fave product - Shiseido Bio-performance super revitalizer @$100 - $135 - 50ml jar.  After I gathered all of my ingredients, the final price tag was around $500 but now I have enough ingredients to make 500ml.

You should search for a soap making supply store in your area, it may be cheaper.  Now that you have some products, it'll probably cost less to check out some e-stores like newdirectionsaromatics.com or tktrading.com or coastalscents.com.  There's also makingcosmetics.com, lotioncrafters.com, diycosmetics.com and gardenofwisdom.com.  These are some that I have purchased from.
