I'm in need of a haircut and new style, but don't have a clue how to tell if a stylist is good BEFORE they cut my hair. any advice?

It's not that you don't explain it, I've brought pictures, but they do what they want anyway. they seem to not have the slightest concern about whst you want, just want to get you out of there. when I get home from the hairdressers, the first thing I do is stick my head under the faucet!! and having them color my hair, forget it, unless you like green.....

i was going to suggest what Charmaine said. That'a how my stylist gets a lot of her clients. Someone will see my hair and ask where I got it done and I give them her card. It makes it easier b/c you know that stylist can do the style you like without having to guess.

You should also ask for a consultation BEFORE you sit in the chair... to communicate what you want and to be sure that your stylist understands. You can also ask to see some of the work they have done. Either in photos, or stay to watch them do a few cuts. It's always better to take the time before you sit in the chair to avoid any misunderstandings and unexepected results.
