Hello! I'm looking for some advice. I went to the salon today with the intention to take my virgin medium brown hair to a dimensional light auburn/copper red, but somehow got talked into somewhat red, but mostly golden blonde highlights instead. At first I thought it was fine, but the more time I spend with it, the more the blonde stands out and looks very unnatural to me. Plus, I had my heart set on going home a redhead.
Here's where I stand now:
In natural light - not so bad, especially at the ends. But not red.
In indoor light they looks streaky and unnatural.
And here's an idea of what I would love to do with it. Either an auburn with coppery highlights like Jane Levy:
Or a light dimensional copper like Emma Stone:
What can I do to get from here to there? Do I have to wait for the highlights to fade/grow out? Can I dye over them? Would a toner alone work? Is there a simple at-home fix I could try? If not, what should I tell my stylist to make sure I get what I want this time (apparently these photos weren't enough of an example the first time around)?
Thanks so much for any suggestions!
