I'm pretty sure I have oily or combo skin, but I'm not sure....I break out mostly on my chin, sometimes on under my nose, forehead, and cheeks..but primarily my chin. Some days it seems like my skin is oily and other days it feels normal. How do I find out? Is there some kind of "test" that I can do? Should I observe it when I first wake up or at the end of the day? I know that when I use blotting sheets, they go completely clear! (They're blue before).

where does it usually feel oily? i know that you have combo skin (i believe) is your oily on the t-zone, dry/fine cheeks. that's how i am.

I suggest you go to the Clinque counter or Dermalogica counter for a face maping, and ask them to analize you skin, since they are certified skin therapists. It's free, and if they push you to buy any products, don't, since it's don't work on oily and acne prone skin, instead read through this site, and do some research yourself until you find something...

Sounds like you have combo skin, which is what I am but check it out. If you have a lot of oil more often than not you might be oily.

I'm gonna try this one. Cuz heck maybe I'm causing my hyper oily skin....when in actuality I'm only combo???? Maybe I'm trying to control it too much. I'm gonna try it and post back my findings.

This is a great question

Ok, so I did the test. And to my surprise, it shows I'm probably more combo than oily. My skin is usually hyper oily, unrealistically oily! I did it with naked freshly washed skin (no moisturizer or nothing). Waited 10 minutes and did the toilet paper thing. Small traces of oil in the t-zone mostly.

I'm amazed, after all these years of trying many different oil control moisturizers and anything that is oil free or oil control (even the sensitive products), I may have been making my skin more oily than it is.

I'm gonna experiment with this a few days. I then took some oil control moisturizer and some of my sensitive skin moisturizer (non-oil control) and mixed them equal - Hoping to get a "combo moisturizer", and applied to my face. Gonna do my makeup and see how it works. Heck might even go purchase a COMBO skin moisturizer.

I beleive it may take some time for my skin to react or adjust and really show me if I'm combo or not. So after a few days or weeks, I'll probably know for sure.
