Hello.

I was woundering what is the best homemade facial recipe you've used?

My friends and i are looking at having a sleepover and we want to make our own facial masks, or scrubs.

Mainly for dry/combination skin.

Thanksss. :)

I like kaolin clay with some hydrosol and glycerin.

I've heard egg whites does wonders and so does bananas with honey and oatmeal.

Hi…

It’s good that make facial on your own. I usually use curd with bran which is separated from the flour. It’s a nice home made scrubbing.

i use a yoghurt, oatmeal and honey mask once a week. it's really moisturising and the oats are supposed to even out your complexion.

If your skin is just combination, go for kaolin (aka white clay), green clay is fine too but it's a little bit stronger. Instead of water you can use floral water liek rose, lavender, orange blossom. Right now i'm using morrocan clay which is great too.

Optional stuff to add if you have them on hand : one drop of lavender essential oil, and seaweeds (i just open a few capsules of spirulina, it's sold under the form of food supplement).

I also suggest you browse this thread, it may be a bit overwhelming but there are great recipes in it

I know it's a bit off topic, but while you're at it, you can also do a hair mask with some oil, like olive, coconut, camellia, and wrap your hair in a hot towel

i just posted on another thread... i make a sugar scrub- TWO ingredients you probably already have...

Sugar, cold-pressed olive oil (I actually like almond oil best, but olive oil works well too)

mix and make a paste.

I like to heat mine up in the micro for 10 secs, just so that its warm, not hot...

I do this everynight! works lovely (my skin is very dry) and this makes me skin look so much better!!!

My favourite masks all use fruit, and in my experience, are gentle enough to use on all skin types, although you ARE in danger of eating them...

I like to mix 1/4 cup of a peeled diced apple (the smaller the pieces the better) with 1/2 cup of greek yoghurt, 1/8 a cup of oatmeal and 3 tspn of honey- melt it in the microwave to liquify it. If you can get New Zealand Manuka honey, all the better, because it has a healing and soothing effect on all skin types. I let it cool in the fridge until the honey is no longer hot, and then smooth it thinly as possible over the face, making sure to avoid the eyes. Leave it on for ten minutes, or as long as comfortable, and then scrub off like an exfoliator.

Also, mango pulp and egg whites mixed together make a nice and soothing mask which also draw out impurities, as well as smelling fantastic!

Greek yoghurt mixed with oatmeal and lemon juice makes a great exfoliating mask, as the citric acid in the lemon juice leaves the skin looking fresher and brighter, and the oatmeal has an exfoliating effect when removed from the skin as though it is a mechanical exfoliant. Greek yoghurt is hydrating and soothing on the skin also.

It sounds good enough to eat (except the egg)

Hi,

In home made facial I do sugar scrub with some drops of lemon juice, it gives freshness. I also prefer Montreal Spa At Home it also good.

My favourite is a very simple cocoa face mask! (hence my name is cocoa angle.... ahem.) here's my recipe:

2 giant tbls sugarless cocoa powder

a bunch of globs of honey

add a bit of thick cream until it's a paste (whipping cream is the best, or coffee cream.)

(optional) powdered oats

mix mix mix then put a thick layer on your face. leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, and I personally like to sit in a warm  bath with it... this mask seriously makes your face feel amazing! soft as a baby's bum and toned. if your eyes look tired, soak peppermint tea bags in water then leave them on you eyes for a minimum of 5 minutes, and when you take them off you eyes will look more awake and beautiful!!!

                 hope I helped!

Mashed green papaya and avocado. The avocado is really moisturizing, and the green papaya exfoliates dead skin. It leaves your skin really soft.

try lemon slices..put it in your face(acne-infested most especially),and let stand in your face for an hour or more.. then you'll see, pimples have dried! and skin tone brightened :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Yup, you can do that with lemon juice too !

I used a papaya scrub a few years ago, it exfoliated really well my body, but the formula was a bit too aggressive and i've never thought of doing it myself.
