I have been using MAC's Mircofine Refinisher for about a month and a half and while I see positive results in my skin texture and complexion, I can't help but think there is another product(s) out there that will do more.

I do not want a "face-ripper," but I need somthing a little more substantial. Maybe I am just expecting too much.

And what is with the "facial peels?" I am wary of peeling anything off my face, especially the top three layers of my skin.

Microdermabration at home is very easy. It depends on which brand you use cuz each are different procedures. I use the Avon Clinical Microdermabration. Its just a white cream with aluminum oxide. You just scrub it on your face for about 2-3 minutes and wash it off. Its great exfoliation and the aluminum oxide crystals are really really tiny. Leaves your face gorgeous. As for acid, I've been using Glycolic Acid for months now and my skin is gorgeous. I use 10% Glycolic Acid Cleanser, 10% Glycolic Acid Toner, with a moisturiser with 10% GA. Then 2 times a week I use the night cream which is REALLY strong. Its 15%. I burned my face the 1st time I used it. But I think it burned my face abit cuz I applied too much. It says to use 1 thin layer, but I put loads on. These products defenitely work great. Glycolic acid and Microdermabration are my skincare routine everyday. I've given up on other cleansers, toners and moisturisers. Alot of money was spend and not much happened. :icon_conf So I can say they are defenitely a miracle. :icon_chee

(ohhh, also keep in mind not to use them at the same time. Acid and metals dont mix. Use them at different times, you'll end up having a chemical reaction on your face and that isnt good). :icon_chee

someone please move this to the skincare forum.

frilly, what brand do you use for the glycolic acid stuff?

Its a seller from Ebay in the UK. Kinda hard to describe what she does, but basically, she gets her items from a chemical skincare supplier. She has her own brand of skincare which is mostly Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and all in different strengths. I've copied and pasted a little description on her Ebay page... Lookgr8 are the No 1 UK distributors of professsional beauty products to the general public. Buying your own salon treatments and performing them yourself can save you £100's on what are normally very costly treatments!... She gets these stuff sold on Ebay. So pretty much she owns her own brand. Its not something thats store bought or anything like that. You gotta get it through Ebay. Her feedback score is 5452 with 99% feedback. Her products are great and people are like repeated customers and come back and repurchase stuff. Hope that helps.

Hi, the username is lookgr8ltd. Or you can just type on the Ebay search Glycolic Acid and like 95% of the results will be her items. They really are great. :icon_chee

I use Philosophy's Microdelivery peel. It comes in two bottles, one has bicarbonate vitamin c crystals in it and the other has activator gel that you apply after you have rubbed the crystal in. It works very well and I use it once a week.

hmmm i'm really interested in using glcolic acid products now, but i would be really scared it would make my skin dry and flakey... can that happen? i get really dry skin but also alot of blemishes... or would it make it better?! lol, I want to try it but Im nervous!

Glycolic acid products are drying because they are removing the dull, surface skin, and they work because they reveal new skin. So, yes, your skin will peel when using it. I suggest using a moisturizer after using any glycolic acid product on your face. I've been using MaMa lotion, which I purchased off of skincarerx.com. It's helped the appearence of my scars, and it's helped even skintone, but not acne. It's difficult to blend foundation on flaky acne, so I'd also suggest using a tinted moisturizer, instead of a foundation. You should be fine using glycolic acid, just start with a low content, and increase if needed. In the case that you should have a bad reaction, discontinue use. But flaking and slight stinging is normal. Peels are better for acne-prone skin than microdermabrasion because scrubbing simply isn't good for pimples. Hope this is helpful. :icon_smil

Well, mental case here will just step in to say....

I use Baking Soda and/or the sugar and olive oil/oil of your choice thing.

I do have a face peel from Aubrey, but I don't use it all the time.
