I bought a home microdermabrasion kit, dermasponge it's called, anyway after I had used it for the first time my skin looked amazing! I have quite oily skin and no matter what primers etc I use by midmorning I usually have to reaplly my make up but after I had used dermasponge my makeup lasted all day and my skin just looked a million times better both with and without makeup. I thought I had finally found my wonder product and felt so much more confident with my great skin!

Then after a week or so I noticed that my old skin was creeping back (hard to explain I just noticed that it didn't look as good as it did and was starting to look like before) so I thought I'd try my amazing miracle kit again as it does say regular use is fine, but the second time I used it it made my skin flaky and horrible worse than it was to start with. I figured maybe I'd just used it too soon after my first treatment so I waited until my skin was back to normal (which took about 2 weeks and a lot of moisturiser) and then tried again making sure to go gently but the same thing happened again!

I don't understand how it could work so well the first time and then make my skin worse.

Has this happened to anyone else? do you think a professional microdermabrasion with a dermatologist is the way to go?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated

Professional microdermabrasion will give you a much better result than any at-home microdermabrasion kit could. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have L'Oreal's microdermabrasion kit, and it doesn't really do anything that exfoliating with some sugar can't...

hth!

I have done both at-home and had microdermabrasion in a salon and there's no comparison! A salon treatment is soooo much more effective.

what kind of results did you experience in the salon? I bought the kit thinking it would help get rid of acne scars and even out my skin tone etc it never crossed my mind that it could stop my skin from producing so much oil did that happen for you?

I have tried a few at home kits and they did nothing just felt like a mild exfoliation but this kit I bought did seem to be like a real treatment, it left my skin very red for the first few hours and a bit painful like sun burn (it said this was normal in the booklet, but it was quite painful).

Oh and thanks for your replies
