Ive been dying my hair for about a year now and I was a natural blonde but for having blonde so long it got kind of boring. For the longest time I was looking for a color that was a big change in my hair color and I decided to go to dark/chocolate brown, well I kept that for the longest time and then I put blonde highlights in it and LOVED it but I wanted just a little more blonde. So I went to the hair salon and had more blonde put through it, well it didnt turn out the way I wanted it to. I have a couple things I need help and advice on and what to use.

When I went to brown I noticed my hair was fading a lot only a couple of days after dying it. It turned to a reddish brown color and it looked awful! So I had to dye my hair a lot and I know that is very damaging. Can anyone help me with a GOOD shampoo to use for colored hair and only for brunettes. And if there is a GOOD spray out there that will also help?? I also heard the more you dye it there is a possible chance that your hair could fall out so the less I dye my hair the better. But it never stays it always fades. So theses are things I need help on.

- What is a REALLY GOOD Hair Dye or Brand That is worth buying?

- What is a REALLY GOOD shampoo that is for colored hair and directed to brunettes?

- Is there a GOOD spray I could buy like a color spray that helps from fading?

- And I need a good brand of Heat protector spray?

- I also heard to go half and half like a medium golden brown with a dark chocolate brown and that will stop the reddish color from coming in is that true?

- And If any more tips available PLEASE I wouldnt mind at all but if you could share them. I am in a situation where I HATE my reddish hair color with blonde and need tips. But please answer my questions above with details and feel free to give more tips:D

Red tones are so hard to get rid of. To be perfectly honest, whenever I have used a red toned color I could never completely color over it. After awhile those tiny red highlights always shown through. Also, anytime you go from light to dark there is mega fading.

As for products, some of my best recommendations would be Kerastase's Bain Miroir, John Frieda, Biolage.

I am sure the hair gurus around here can give you more recommendations.

I'm definitely not a hair guru, but you may want to try sulphate free shampoos/conditioners. I received a Kerastese cleansing balm in my BB and read reviews online.. overall, pretty positive and attest to the quality, but pricey. Redken and Biolage make color safe lines, Pureology.. drugstore, try L'Oreal ever Pure line, Burt's Bees, and I second John Frieda.. I think that brand offers a glaze treatment for blondes, reds, and brunettes to help with color and shine.

Oops.. Oscar Blandi! They have nice products... I pick heat sprays that go up to 400 degrees, though I never put my iron that high. I've used mostly drugstore and would say the Got2Be Guardian Angel is good and Beyond the zone, which can be found at Sally's. I've tried a Rusk thermal spray, bought it at Ross, I think. I liked that one, but didn't think it performed better than my cheaper brands so I wouldn't repurchase at regular retail.
