I have always had bad skin, and have recently started moisturising and using a toner. It has made a small improvement but im not sure what to try next? Plus im sure my foundation isnt helping much. I have dry, but sometimes very oily, red skin. Do you reccomend any products that could maybe calm the situation?

Thanks

I would suggest a cleansing oil. Some of the most popular brands are:

DHC

MAC

Shu Umeura

Even a light exfoliating scrub.

I use clean and clear daily scrub, but I haven't really tried many other prducts.

You should give the Oil Cleansing Method a try. Using oils to clean will help even out your skin. It will moisturize the dry and also keep your skin from producing too much oil when it kicks into overdrive. I use this method, been using it for almost a year. Its inexpensive (jojoba oil 70%, castor 30%) and all natural. You can use less castor or sub with grapeseed oil if you think castor will be too drying). I have normal skin so its a good combo. Dry will probably be 80/20. You can also use Olive if you can't get jojoba or sweet almond too.

The oils will be able to dissolve your clogged pores and cleans it all away with a good toner. I use a witch hazel distillate/glycerine and rose water and water mixture. Once again, natural and chemical/alcohol free.

I am or was having the same problem. I just never had breakouts when I was younger but now I am having them bad. Before I go to the dermatologist I wanted to try somethings on my own. Now, my skin is either a combination or normal, but I am going to tell you what works for me tremendously and I am a wittness that it does work.
1. I tried Mac, makeup which is what I think may have caused my breakouts in the first place, I stoped using it because I was breaking out bad really bad. I got Neutrogena Acen Solutions Kit and on the spot pimple control it worked right away I used that for about 6 weeks, but in about 2 it started clearing up

2. I got me Olay skin regenerist micro derma peel it took away the dead skin and my skin looked fresh and new and the dark spots got lighter, mind you I was still using the neutrogena I continue to use both until I used them all meanwhile I still did not wear any makeup

3. I started using black soap which is working really well to maintain my skin and help keep it even toned and breakout free, (you can also use neutrogena blemish control or acne control wash)

4. I use and I know this is going to be a little weird but I use milk of macneisum the orignal for my face as a moisturizer in addition to the neutrogena even better moisturizer it really works it leaves your skin looking creamy and rich and moist but not to moist and it doesn't have any chemicals that will break your skin out

5. I got some makeup that doesn't have any chemicals in it or a tinted moisturizer as my makeup and some bronzer just make sure what ever makeup you get doesn't have any fragrance in it or anything that will break you out

I didn't have to go to the dermatologist afterall and all of this cost me under a 100 dollars

you should try all of these things especially the milk of magnesium it really helps with dailing down some or most of the oil on your face

I also suggest maybe getting a foundation or makeup with spf in it

I hope this helps

Oh I also put my milk of magnesium in another bottle so that I didn't have that in the original bottle
