I got some of this Cucumber Creme from my mother, who swore by it (It cost a bloody fortune)! She told me it would smooth my skin and take down puffiness. It burned me! My entire face swelled up and one of my eyes swelled shut. I got this weird red bump rash all over my face! I have purple spots (like bruising), as if someone beat me to a pulp! It hurts soooooooo freakin' bad! I am taking Benadryl (like my doc told me). Apparently, I am majorly allergic to cucumbers! I can't go outside for fear I will scare pets and small children!

All last night I kept waking up with my husband standing over me staring at my face. He was terrified I would go into anaphelectic (whatever) shock and die! It was terrifing waking up to see him looking at me. Because of it, I kept having terrible nightmares about being stared at while naked! AHHHHAHHHHAHHHHHAHHHHHHH!

omg i hope you get better soon! i feel so bad for you, i dont really have any advice, just do whatever the doc tells you to

I'm sorry that happened. I have a similar reaction with cucumbers, too. I put slices on my eyes once and it burned the heck out of them, swelled them up, and gave me a rash. I've never tried that again! I like to eat them on my salads but whenever I do I get bad indigestion and can't stop burping them.

Ouchie!!! Don't worry...it'll get better! This is a good lesson to not use ANYTHING on your skin until you spot test it. I learned the same lesson with some Nair a long time ago...

Ouch....I am so sorry. I wonder if aloe vera would help. Like the real plant...not the gel you buy at the store. Or heck....no, I'm not advising anything in fear of your face burning off.

Yikes......I once put nair on my face when I was younger....ummm bad, dumb mistake....so I know the burn feeling. Can you use cold presses or anything like that?

oh... i hope the days will fly as fast as possible, so you will be well after minutes, *hugs

I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but I'm glad you shared it with us. Believe it or not, the St. Ives Cucumber gel I bought gave me a slight burning sensation. I didn't really think anything of it because of the number of other products I had used that day....perhaps I need to rethink my use of that product. I've just read an article that I found to be really interesting and helpful regarding cucumbers. Check it out!

OMG that's horrible!!! Hope you're doing better now, what a nightmare.

Thank you all so much for the sympathy. I tried the cold compresses and they made my face feel much better when they were on, but it was back to the same icky feeling without the cold. I never thought I would look in the mirror and see a prize-fighter staring back. :icon_wink

OMG, how awful! I'm so sorry to hear that happened. I hope you feel better soon.

I too learned my lesson about Nair on the face not so long ago. Talk about chemical burn. Ohhh, that hurt!!!! My chin was as red as this emoticon- :icon_love

Yikes! :icon_eek:

Hi Brazen,

So sorry to hear about your allergic reaction. I hope you feel better real soon.

Ack! Sorry I missed this thread, but I hope you feel better now Brunhilda.

I moved this thread to skin care talk hun!

oh wow! so sorry to hear! but, don't worry hun.. i've burned my face in the past using certain products that my skin didn't like. it will go away within time..

someone advised using aloe vera, but i would advise against that. you need something emoilient that creates more of a barrier. i would get some vitamin E capsules, break them open and apply it on your face at night or when you are just at home lounging around. i have tried both aloe vera and vitamin E, and vitamin E works best. hope your face starts to feel better!
