I read somewhere that olive oil is amazing for the skin. My facial skin is so tight and dry! I used to have an oily skin in my teenage days (I am 29 now) but I just feel my face stretches if I don't moisturize my face everyday!

My face also looks kinnda white-ish when I look into details on the mirror, surely because its very dry.. even around my noseeeee

Anyone help? Will olive oil masks help? will flaxseed oil help as well? am desperate.

Olive oil can work (make sure it's pure and cold pressed), you could also try sweet almond (you can usually find some in the baby products), or shea butter (exotic places or healthfood stores).

Make sure you are not dehydrated, because it doesn't help this issue. To add some relief spritz some water on your face jsut before applying your moisturizer. And you should apply moisturizer on your face everyday, it faces the elements many hours a day, all year round, moisturizer will help protect your skin against these.

Also make sure you use a moisturizer for dry skin, if your skin is dry even with moisturizer, i would suggest you try to apply several coats, or change for a creamier, thicker moisturizer (try looking for butters like shea butter, honey, oils in the ingredients list). Please do not use vaseline, this will not nourish your skin deeply, it will only act as a protection against the cold.

You can also exfoliate gently the dry skin flakes you mentioned, this will help your moisturizer to soak in. Stick to your routine as it will take some time to recover a more normal skin.

I used to have dry patches on my face in the winter - on my cheeks and around my nose.  I started exfoliating once or twice a week and wearing a good moisturizer at night.  I like Clinique Moisture Surge or Shiseido Night Moisture Recharge or if you're on a budget Nivea and Neutrogena have always worked well for me.  I have tried Vitamin E Oil, Jojoba oil, olive oil and Argan Oil and liked the Jojoba and Argan Oil best.  I don't like oils for everyday, though.  I think my skin looks better now (I'm 34) then it did 5 years ago when I really started taking care of it.  Also, my grandmother, who lived well in to her 80's but could have passed for her late 60's, swore by a thin layer of Vaseline over her moisturizer.  Take less than a dime sized amount of Vaseline and rub it together in your palms then put a light layer on your face right before bed.  It helps hold the moisture in.  It works awesome for me.  Dry, flaky, tight skin stinks.  Hope you find something that works for you!

Well some things you should do:-

1) Drink lots of water.

2) Use a good moisturizer.

3) Use a very mild soap. If possible use a baby skin soap.

4) Get a steam dispenser and make sure u expose your skin for a minute or two everyday.

I agree with using jojoba oil and shea butter on dry skin. Also exfoliating with an Alpha Hydroxy acid helps alot.

Argan oil is also a good moisturising oil, one thing i want to add is you can use the oils in their pure form, but you can also buy a ready made cream with these oils inside, or make it yourself :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
